Jenna Nicole Mourey was born on September 15, 1986. She grew up in Rochester, New York. She went to Brighton High School and finished in 2004.

After high school, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts. She studied at Suffolk University, where she earned a degree in psychology. Later, she got a master's degree in sport psychology and counseling from Boston University.

Jenna Marbles started her YouTube channel in 2010. Her comedy video "How to Trick People into Thinking You're Good Looking" quickly became popular. It got about 5.3 million views in its first week. As of 2024, this video has over 70 million views.

Another video, "How to Avoid Talking to People You Don't Want to Talk To," was even mentioned in The New York Times and ABC News in 2011. In this video, she shared funny ways to avoid unwanted conversations.

Jenna started using the name "Jenna Marbles" because her mother was worried. Her mother was looking for a job, and searching "Mourey" only showed Jenna's videos. Her mother was concerned that the video content might affect her job search. The name "Marbles" came from her dog, Mr. Marbles.

Jenna Marbles also appeared in other popular online shows and videos. She played Eve in an episode of Epic Rap Battles of History. She also showed up in Annoying Orange, Ridiculousness, and Smosh: The Movie. She was even in the music video for the song "Fireball" by the rapper Pitbull.

Jenna said she never meant to hurt anyone. She admitted that these actions were "shameful" and "awful." She wished they were not part of her past. After this, she announced that she would be taking an indefinite break from YouTube. Her boyfriend at the time, Julien Solomita, also said that their joint podcast and Twitch streams would pause.
