Jennifer Lesley Ellison is an English actress, television personality, dancer, and singer. She is well-known for playing Emily Shadwick in the TV show Brookside until 2003. Jennifer also played Meg Giry in the 2004 movie The Phantom of the Opera. Later, she starred in the reality TV show Dance Mums with Jennifer Ellison. This show was the UK version of the American show Dance Moms.

Jennifer Ellison has had a varied career in entertainment. She started with dance and moved into acting, music, and television.
Dancing and Ice Skating
Jennifer began dancing when she was only three years old. She trained at dance schools in Liverpool and St Helens. She earned high marks in dance exams from the Royal Academy of Dance and the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA). She won ballet and modern dance awards in 1996 and 1997. In 1998, she received the Carl Alan Award for ballet. Jennifer even auditioned for the Royal Ballet School but later chose to focus on acting.
In 2012, Jennifer competed on the TV show Dancing on Ice. She made it all the way to the semi-finals. From 2014 to 2015, she hosted Dance Mums with Jennifer Ellison on Lifetime. This show was about young dancers and their mothers.
Television Roles and Shows
From 1998 to 2002, Jennifer played Emily Shadwick in the soap opera Brookside. Her character left the show after falling from a window. In 2003, Jennifer appeared in a travel show called Jennifer Ellison does Thailand. The next year, she won the reality TV cooking show Hell's Kitchen.
In 2007, Jennifer was part of the BBC reality show The Verdict. This show was set in a pretend courtroom. She also appeared as a judge on Dirty Dancing – Time of your Life, a US reality show. Later that year, she became a guest on the ITV show Loose Women. Jennifer has also acted in episodes of other British TV series. These include The Brief, Hotel Babylon, New Street Law, and The Commander. In 2008, she appeared in Ghosthunting with Paul O'Grady & Friends. This show was filmed in Sicily.

After her success in TV, Jennifer tried a career in pop music. She released two pop rock songs. Her first song, "Baby I Don't Care", came out in June 2003. It reached number 6 on the UK Singles Chart. This song was originally by Transvision Vamp. In July 2004, after winning Hell's Kitchen, she released her second song. "Bye Bye Boy" reached number 13 in the UK chart. This song was first recorded by Japanese singer Nanase Aikawa.

Theatre Performances
In 2004, Jennifer performed in the musical Chicago in London's West End. She played the main role of Roxie Hart. She played this role again in 2006. She also toured Britain with Chicago from 2006 to 2007. In 2007, Jennifer joined the play Boeing Boeing in London. She played Gloria, an American flight attendant.
Jennifer also performed in a special 10th Anniversary show of Chicago in 2007. In December 2007, she played "Angel" in Liverpool Nativity. This was a modern version of the Christmas story for BBC Three.
In 2008, Jennifer was in the pantomime Cinderella at the Liverpool Empire Theatre. She also played Beth in Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds in 2009.
In 2010, Jennifer toured the UK in the play Calendar Girls. She also appeared in the pantomime Robinson Crusoe. She then joined the UK tour of Legally Blonde The Musical, playing Paulette.

Film Appearances
Jennifer made her first international film appearance in the 2004 movie The Phantom of the Opera. She played Meg Giry in this film version of the musical. She also starred in the English horror film The Cottage, which came out in the UK in 2008.
Other Projects and Ventures
In 2006, Jennifer released a fitness DVD called Jennifer Ellison's West End Workout. This DVD combined her love for dance with exercise. In December 2011, she released a second fitness DVD, Jennifer Ellison's Fat Blaster Workout.
Jennifer won the Carl Alan Award for ballet in 1998. This is an award voted for by dance professionals. She also took part in the 2012 TV series Dancing on Ice. Jennifer and her partner Daniel Whiston finished in fourth place.
In May 2013, Jennifer Ellison joined Radio City 96.7 in Liverpool. She co-hosted a new Sunday morning breakfast show for a few weeks.
Jennifer Ellison's Personal Life
Jennifer attended Broughton Hall High School and then St Edward's College. She has two younger half-sisters. Her parents separated in 1986, and her mother later remarried. Jennifer is close to her mother and stepfather.
Jennifer Ellison and boxer Robbie Tickle started dating in May 2008. They got engaged in October of that year while on holiday. They were married in Mauritius on October 10, 2009.
Jennifer has three children. Her first son was born on February 4, 2010. Her second son was born on July 9, 2013. Her third son was born on September 26, 2014.
Jennifer is a big fan of Everton FC, a football club.
