Jens Byggmark (born August 22, 1985) is a Swedish former alpine ski racer. He was known for his skills in technical ski events like slalom and giant slalom. He competed in the World Cup, which is the highest level of international alpine ski racing.

Jens was born in Örebro, Sweden, but grew up in Tärnaby. He raced for Tärna IK Fjällvinden, a very successful ski club. He started his career in the European Cup in 2005.

Jens Byggmark has Sámi family roots from his mother's side. He is married to Michaela Delér and they have two children, a daughter and a son.

Jens Byggmark's World Cup Journey

Jens Byggmark first competed in the World Cup in 2005. He had a fantastic season in 2007, winning two slalom races in a row at Kitzbühel, Austria. Just two days later, he finished second in another slalom race in Schladming, Austria.

After a few challenging years, Jens made a strong comeback in the 2011 season. He managed to stay in the top group of skiers for two seasons. However, in September 2013, he got a knee injury. This meant he had to miss the entire 2014 season, including the Olympic Games that year.

World Cup Achievements

Jens Byggmark won 2 World Cup races, both in slalom. He also reached the podium (finished in the top three) 8 times in slalom events.

World Championship Medals

Jens Byggmark also competed in the World Championships, where he won three silver medals:

  • In 2007, he won a silver medal in the Team event in Åre, Sweden.
  • In 2011, he won another silver medal in the Slalom event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
  • In 2013, he earned his third silver medal in the Team event in Schladming, Austria.

Jens Byggmark represented Sweden at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. He competed in the slalom event and finished in 22nd place. He was unable to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics due to his knee injury.
