Exciting Discoveries in Jequetepeque
In 2023, a team of Peruvian archaeologists made an amazing discovery. They found an ancient cemetery from the Wari culture in the middle of the Jequetepeque Valley.
What Was Found?
The cemetery has two special burial chambers. It covers a large area of about 24 hectares, which is like 45 football fields!
When Was It From?
Peru's Ministry of Culture announced that this discovery dates back a very long time ago. It's from a period called the Middle Horizon, which was around 800 to 1000 AD. This means the Wari people lived and buried their dead here over 1,000 years ago!
