Holdyn Jerian Grant (born October 9, 1992) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for Panathinaikos in Greece. He is part of the Greek Basketball League (GBL) and the EuroLeague. Jerian played college basketball at the University of Notre Dame. He was one of the best college players in the country during the 2014–15 season.
In the 2015 NBA draft, the Washington Wizards picked him 19th overall. His rights were then traded to the Atlanta Hawks. Finally, he joined the New York Knicks on draft night.

Jerian Grant's College Basketball Journey
Early Years at Notre Dame
After playing high school basketball at DeMatha Catholic High School, Jerian Grant went to Notre Dame. He played for coach Mike Brey. In his first year, he didn't play in games (this is called "redshirting").
In his second season, he was named to the Big East Conference All-Rookie team. He scored about 12.3 points and made 4.97 assists per game. In his third season, he was named second-team All-Big East. He averaged 13.3 points and 5.5 assists per game.
Moving to the ACC and a Breakout Season
After the 2012–13 season, Notre Dame joined the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Jerian was expected to do well and was voted onto the preseason All-ACC team. He started the season strong, scoring 19.01 points per game.
However, on December 23, 2013, Jerian had to leave Notre Dame for the rest of the season. He chose to return to Notre Dame instead of trying for the 2014 NBA draft.
Jerian came back for the 2014–15 season. He helped his team start with a great record of 20 wins and 3 losses. He became a key player for the team's strong offense. He was even on watch lists for major awards like the John R. Wooden Award. The team finished with 32 wins and 6 losses. They also won the ACC Tournament championship. They made it to the Elite 8 in the NCAA tournament. They lost a very close game by 2 points to an undefeated Kentucky team.
Jerian Grant's Professional Basketball Career
Starting with the New York Knicks (2015–2016)
The Washington Wizards picked Jerian Grant in the 2015 NBA draft. His rights were traded to the Atlanta Hawks and then to the New York Knicks. He joined the Knicks for the 2015 NBA Summer League. There, he averaged 11.8 points and 4.8 assists per game. On July 30, 2015, he signed his first contract with the Knicks.
On December 2, he scored 12 points, which was his season-high at the time. This was in a win against his brother Jerami and the Philadelphia 76ers. On January 12, 2016, he had his best game with 16 points and 8 assists. This helped the Knicks win against the Boston Celtics.
Playing for the Chicago Bulls (2016–2018)
On June 22, 2016, Jerian was traded to the Chicago Bulls. This trade also included José Calderón and Robin Lopez. In return, the Knicks received Derrick Rose and Justin Holiday. The next month, he helped the Bulls win the Las Vegas Summer League championship. He was even named MVP for his great performance.
On November 15, 2016, he started his first game of the season. He scored 18 points and made five steals in a win against the Portland Trail Blazers. He also spent some time playing for the Windy City Bulls, which is Chicago's minor league team. On April 10, 2017, he scored 17 points and had a career-high 11 assists. This was in a big win over the Orlando Magic.
On November 26, 2017, Jerian scored a career-high 24 points. This was in a game against the Miami Heat. On December 29, 2017, he had 11 points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds. This helped the Bulls win against the Indiana Pacers. On January 22, 2018, he scored 22 points and had 13 assists. This was in a close double-overtime loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
Time with the Orlando Magic (2018–2019)
On July 7, 2018, Jerian was traded to the Orlando Magic as part of a three-team deal. After the 2019 season, he became a free agent.
Playing for the Capital City Go-Go (2019–2020)
On November 18, 2019, Jerian joined the Capital City Go-Go. This team is part of the NBA G League. On January 15, 2020, he scored 28 points. He also added seven rebounds and seven assists in a win. He averaged 16.3 points and 5.9 assists per game for the Go-Go.
Brief Return to the NBA (2020)
On July 1, 2020, Jerian was signed by the Washington Wizards. He was later signed and then waived by the Houston Rockets in December 2020.
Playing Overseas: Promitheas Patras (2020–2021)
On December 31, 2020, Jerian signed with the Greek team Promitheas Patras. His older brother, Jerai, was already playing there. In 27 games in the Greek Basket League, Jerian averaged 14.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.7 assists.
Time with Olimpia Milano (2021–2022)
On July 1, 2021, Jerian signed a two-year deal with Olimpia Milano in Italy. This team plays in the Lega Basket Serie A and the EuroLeague. He played under coach Ettore Messina. On July 2, 2022, he left the Italian club. He had helped them win both the Italian league and cup titles during his time there.
Success with Türk Telekom (2022–2023)
On July 14, 2022, Jerian signed with Türk Telekom in Turkey. This team plays in the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL). In the Turkish league, he averaged 16.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game. He helped his team finish first in the regular season.
He also played in 22 EuroCup games. He averaged 14.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. Because of his great play, Jerian was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2022–2023 EuroCup season.
Joining Panathinaikos (2023–Present)
On July 10, 2023, Jerian signed a one-year contract with the strong Greek team Panathinaikos. On July 10, 2024, he signed a new contract to stay with the team for two more seasons.
Jerian Grant's Family and Personal Life
Jerian Grant comes from a family of basketball players. His father, Harvey Grant, used to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Jerian has three brothers. Two of them also play basketball professionally. His older brother Jerai has played in many leagues around the world. His younger brother Jerami plays for the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA. His youngest brother, Jaelin, also went to DeMatha High School, just like his older brothers.
Jerian's uncle, Horace Grant, is his father's identical twin. Horace was an NBA All-Star and won four championships. He won with the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers. Jerian also has two sons, Hunter Jrue and Harper Jrex Grant, and a daughter, Haidyn Jream Grant.
