Houston Jerami Grant (born March 12, 1994) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Portland Trail Blazers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Jerami is known for being a strong Power forward on the court.
He played college basketball for the Syracuse Orange. Later, the Philadelphia 76ers picked him in the 2014 NBA draft. Jerami has also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, and Detroit Pistons. In 2020, he won a gold medal with the U.S. Olympic team.

Early Life and High School Career
Jerami Grant went to DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. In his final year, he scored about 12.5 points per game.
Experts at ESPN.com thought he was a top player. They ranked him as the 11th best power forward in the country in 2012.
College Basketball Journey
Jerami played college basketball at Syracuse University. During the 2013–14 season, he averaged 12.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He also made 49.6% of his shots.
He scored ten or more points in 24 out of 32 games. He was even named an All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2014. In April 2014, Jerami decided to enter the NBA draft. This meant he left college two years early to become a professional player.
Professional Basketball Career
Starting in the NBA: Philadelphia 76ers (2014–2016)
The Philadelphia 76ers chose Jerami Grant in the 2014 NBA draft. He was the 39th player picked overall. He joined the team for the 2014 NBA Summer League before signing his first contract.
On January 21, 2015, he blocked eight shots in a game. This was the most blocks by a 76ers player in many years. On February 2, he scored 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
In November 2015, Jerami got his first double-double. This means he had ten or more in two different stats, like points and rebounds. He scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds in that game. Later, in December, he set a new personal best with 11 rebounds.
Playing for the Thunder: Oklahoma City (2016–2019)
On November 1, 2016, Jerami was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He played his first game with them the very next day. He scored 6 points and had 2 rebounds and 2 blocks.
On December 19, 2016, he scored a season-high 15 points. He tied this score again on February 1, 2017.
In October 2017, Jerami scored 17 points coming off the bench. He shot well, making 5 out of 9 shots.
He re-signed with the Thunder in July 2018. On January 10, 2019, he scored a new personal best of 25 points. He also had 12 rebounds in that game. On April 10, he set another personal best with 28 points in a win against the Bucks.
Time with the Nuggets: Denver (2019–2020)
Jerami Grant was traded to the Denver Nuggets on July 8, 2019.
On February 25, 2020, he scored a new personal high of 29 points. This helped the Nuggets win against the Detroit Pistons. In the playoffs, he played well against the Clippers. He scored 14 points in a key Game 7 win. The Nuggets made it to the Western Conference Finals. Jerami scored 26 points in one of those games.
Joining the Pistons: Detroit (2020–2022)
On November 22, 2020, Jerami signed a three-year contract with the Detroit Pistons. This was a big step for his career.
On February 17, 2021, he scored an amazing 43 points. This was a new personal best for him. He finished the season as a finalist for the NBA Most Improved Player Award. He greatly improved his scoring average.
In December 2021, Jerami hurt his right thumb. He needed surgery and was out for several weeks. He also missed the end of the 2022 season due to a calf injury.
Current Team: Portland Trail Blazers (2022–present)
On July 6, 2022, Jerami was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. This brought him back to his hometown.
On October 23, he scored 16 points. He also made the game-winning shot against the Los Angeles Lakers. On November 4, he scored 30 points and hit another game-winning shot. On November 25, he set a new personal high with 44 points. This helped the Blazers win in overtime.
Jerami re-signed with the Blazers on July 9, 2023. On February 8, 2024, he scored a career-high 49 points in a game.
Playing for Team USA
On June 28, 2021, Jerami Grant was part of the 2020 United States men's Olympic basketball team. This team won a gold medal at the Olympics in Tokyo. It was a great honor to represent his country.

Family and Basketball
Basketball runs in Jerami Grant's family! His dad, Harvey Grant, was also an NBA player. Jerami has three brothers: Jerai, Jerian, and Jaelin. Two of his brothers, Jerai and Jerian, also play professional basketball.
His uncle, Horace Grant, is Harvey's twin brother. Horace played college basketball at Clemson. He won four NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers.
