Jerami Grant is an American professional basketball player. He was born on March 12, 1994. Jerami plays for the Portland Trail Blazers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He also played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, and Detroit Pistons. In 2021, Jerami won a gold medal with the U.S. Olympic basketball team.

High School Basketball Career
Jerami Grant went to DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. During his senior year in 2011–12, he scored about 12.5 points per game. Experts at ESPN.com thought he was a top player. They ranked him as the 11th best power forward in the nation in 2012.
College Basketball Journey
Jerami played college basketball for the Syracuse Orange. In the 2013–14 season, he averaged 12.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He scored double figures in 24 out of 32 games. Jerami was also recognized as an All-ACC Honorable Mention.
In April 2014, Jerami decided to enter the NBA draft. This meant he left college two years early to become a professional player.
Professional Basketball Career
Playing for the Philadelphia 76ers (2014–2016)
The Philadelphia 76ers picked Jerami Grant in the 2014 NBA draft. He was the 39th player chosen overall. He joined the team for the 2014 NBA Summer League. In September 2014, he signed a four-year contract with the 76ers.
On January 21, 2015, Jerami blocked eight shots in a game. This was the most blocks by a 76ers player since 2007. It was also the most by a 76ers rookie since 1994. On February 2, he scored 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
In July 2015, Jerami played for the 76ers again in the 2015 NBA Summer League. On November 11, 2015, he achieved his first career double-double. He scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds in a game. On December 30, he grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds. He also scored 16 points and blocked five shots in a win.
Time with the Oklahoma City Thunder (2016–2019)
On November 1, 2016, Jerami was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He played his first game for the Thunder the next day. He scored six points and had two rebounds and two blocks. On December 19, 2016, he scored a season-high 15 points. He tied this score again on February 1, 2017.
On October 31, 2017, Jerami scored 17 points coming off the bench. This was his highest score since April 2016.
On July 7, 2018, Jerami signed a new contract with the Thunder. On January 10, 2019, he scored a career-high 25 points. He also had 12 rebounds in a double-overtime game. On March 18, he scored 27 points. On April 10, he set another career high with 28 points in a win.
Playing for the Denver Nuggets (2019–2020)
On July 8, 2019, Jerami was traded to the Denver Nuggets. On February 25, 2020, he scored a career-high 29 points in a win.
In the 2020 playoffs, Jerami played well against the Clippers. He scored 14 points in a Game 7 win. He averaged 11.6 points and 3.3 rebounds during the playoffs.
Years with the Detroit Pistons (2020–2022)
On November 22, 2020, Jerami signed a three-year contract with the Detroit Pistons. On February 17, 2021, he scored a career-high 43 points. He was a finalist for the NBA Most Improved Player Award that season. He finished second in the voting.
In December 2021, Jerami hurt his right thumb and needed surgery. He was out for at least six weeks. In March 2022, he was ruled out for the rest of the season due to a calf injury.
Joining the Portland Trail Blazers (2022–Present)
On July 6, 2022, Jerami was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. On October 23, he scored 16 points and made a game-winning shot. On November 4, he scored 30 points and hit another game-winning shot. On November 25, he scored a career-high 44 points in an overtime win.
On July 9, 2023, Jerami signed a new contract with the Blazers. On February 8, 2024, he scored a career-high 49 points in a game.
National Team Achievements
On June 28, 2021, Jerami Grant was part of the 2020 United States men's Olympic basketball team. This team won a gold medal at the Olympics in Tokyo.

Jerami Grant's Family and Interests
Jerami Grant comes from a family of basketball players. His dad, Harvey Grant, used to play in the NBA. Jerami has three brothers: Jerai, Jerian, and Jaelin. Jerai and Jerian are also professional basketball players. They both play for Panathinaikos in Greece.
Jerami's uncle, Horace Grant, is Harvey's twin brother. Horace played college basketball at Clemson. He won four NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. In May 2024, Jerami became a part-owner of his hometown soccer team, D.C. United.
