Jerome Ch'en facts for kids
Jerome Ch'en FRSC (Chinese: 陳志讓; pinyin: Chén Zhìràng, born Ch'en Chih-jang; October 2, 1919 – June 17, 2019) was a Chinese-Canadian historian and author. He served as Chinese history professor at York University in Toronto, Ontario from 1971 to 1987. He was the director of the University of Toronto/York University Joint Centre of Asia Pacific Studies (JCAPS) between 1983 and 1985. He also taught history at the University of Leeds before moving to Canada. He was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1981. In 1984, he was named Distinguished Research Professor at York.
Ch'en was born in Chengdu, Sichuan. He died in St. Catharines, Ontario on June 17, 2019. He was 99.
