Jerome Gantt (born October 20, 1948) is an American former professional football player. He played as an offensive tackle. Jerome Gantt is famous for winning the Grey Cup championship twice. He played in both the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Jerome Gantt's Football Journey
Jerome Gantt started his football career in college. He played for North Carolina Central University. His skills on the field caught the attention of professional teams.
Playing in the NFL
In 1970, Jerome Gantt was chosen in the NFL draft. The Buffalo Bills picked him in the fourth round. This was a big step for him into professional football. He played 6 games for the Bills as a back-up player.
Conquering the CFL
In 1972, Jerome Gantt moved to Canada. He joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, a team in the CFL. That same year, he helped the Tiger-Cats win the Grey Cup. This is the biggest championship in Canadian football.
In 1974, Gantt played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Later that year, he also joined the Montreal Alouettes. He was part of the Alouettes team that won the Grey Cup in 1974. This was his second Grey Cup victory!
Final Season
Jerome Gantt finished his football career in 1975. He played for the Charlotte Hornets. This team was part of the World Football League (WFL).
