Exploring Jesús: Location and Landscape

Getting to Jesús: Travel Routes
You can reach the town of Jesús in three main ways. Each route offers a different journey through Peru's landscapes.
- The first way is by taking the Panamerican Highway North. You would travel from Lima, then through La Unión, Huánuco, Wanuku Pampa, Rondos, and Jivia before arriving in Jesús.
- The second way uses the central road. This route also starts in Lima, then goes through La Oroya, Huánuco, Wankapayaq, Yarumayu, and Margos before reaching Jesús.
- The third option takes you through Churin, Oyón, Raura, and Cauri. This route also ends in Jesús.
Discovering Jesús: What to See
Jesús is a great starting point for exploring the natural beauty nearby. It's located right on the banks of the Lauricocha River. This river is very important because it eventually forms the mighty Marañón River near the town of Rondos, after joining with the Nupe River.
From Jesús, you can easily visit the famous Lauricocha Lagoon. This beautiful lagoon is a popular spot for visitors. On clear days, if you look from the hills around Jesús, you might even see the amazing Cordillera Huayhuash mountain range in the distance!
