Jesse Gregory James, born on April 19, 1969, in Long Beach, California, is an American businessman, a mechanic who works on cars, and a TV star. He is famous for starting his company, West Coast Choppers. He also worked with Austin Speed Shop and now leads Jesse James Firearms Unlimited, both located in Austin, Texas.
James became well-known as the host of the reality TV shows Monster Garage on the Discovery Channel and Jesse James Is a Dead Man on Spike TV. He also appeared in the 2004 skateboarding video game Tony Hawk's Underground 2.

Jesse James's Career
Jesse James was born in Long Beach, California, in 1969. He played football as an outside linebacker at Riverside City College in Riverside. However, two injuries meant he had to stop playing.
When he was 19, he worked as a bouncer and then as a bodyguard. He notably worked for music groups like Slayer and Soundgarden.
Starting West Coast Choppers
In 1992, James started his company, West Coast Choppers, in his mother's garage. This company became very famous for building custom motorcycles. Besides his work with the company, he has also built and raced special vehicles. These include an off-road Trophy Truck and a Figure-8 race car.
James also owned a restaurant called Cisco Burger, which opened in 2006. It was located across the street from West Coast Choppers, but it has since closed. He also had a part in Austin Speed Shop in Austin, Texas. He left that business in 2013 to focus on reopening West Coast Choppers in Austin.
Other Business Ventures
Jesse James has been involved in other businesses too. He created a fan club called Chopperdogs. He also had a clothing line called Jesse's Girl. James also published a magazine about custom cars called Garage, which is no longer published.
In November 2013, Jesse James Firearms Unlimited showed its first two firearms. These were a 1911 pistol and an AR-15 rifle. He also created a suppressor for rifles.
As of 2020, James lives in Austin, Texas. He continues to run Jesse James Firearms Unlimited. He also manages the brand and ideas related to West Coast Choppers.
Television Appearances

In 2000, the Discovery Channel made a documentary called Motorcycle Mania. This show followed Jesse James's daily life. Because the documentary was so popular, the Discovery Channel asked James to host a new show. This show was called Monster Garage. On Monster Garage, James and a team of mechanics changed regular vehicles into amazing machines under a tight deadline.
James later started his own production company, Payupsucker Productions. Through this company, he produced other shows. These included History of the Chopper and Iraq Confidential with Jesse James. He also worked on Green Scream, where he planned to break a land speed record using an eco-friendly hydrogen car.
He also appeared on the Discovery Channel's Sons of Guns. James was also on the show Celebrity Apprentice. On this show, celebrities competed to raise money for their favorite charities. James chose to play for the Long Beach Education Foundation. He finished in third place on the show.
His show Jesse James Is a Dead Man started on Spike TV on May 31, 2009. This show featured James doing very daring stunts. The first episode of the show was very popular. It had 2 million viewers, which was a record for an unscripted series on Spike. The show was made by Spike TV, BASE Productions, and James's company, PayupSucker Productions.
James also appeared on an episode of Street Customs. On this show, his pickup truck was customized by West Coast Customs. He also appeared in an advertisement for T-Mobile's Google mobile phone. Jesse James was on Sons of Guns again on March 28, 2012. He asked the Red Jacket Firearms team to build a special Browning Automatic Rifle for him. He even helped with the building process himself.
Jesse also appeared in special "Biker Build-Off" episodes of American Chopper. These were in 2011 and 2012. He competed against Paul Teutul Jr. and Paul Teutul Sr. to build custom bikes.
Personal Life
Family and Relationships
Jesse James has four children. He has a daughter and a son with his first wife, Karla James. They were married from 1991 to 2002. He has another daughter with his second wife, Janine Lindemulder. They were married from 2002 to 2004. He also has a son with his fifth wife, Bonnie Rotten, whom he married in 2022.
On July 16, 2005, James married actress Sandra Bullock. They met when she arranged for her ten-year-old godson to visit the set of Monster Garage. They later divorced in 2010.
In late 2012, James became engaged to professional drag racer Alexis DeJoria. They got married on March 24, 2013. They separated in March 2020 after seven years of marriage.
Since late 2021, James has been in a relationship with Bonnie Rotten. They married on June 25, 2022, and welcomed a son exactly one year later.
