Jet Star 2 at RCDB |
Jet Star 2 is an exciting roller coaster at Lagoon Amusement Park in Farmington, Utah. This steel coaster has been a popular ride since it opened in 1976. It's known for its unique design and fun turns.
History of Jet Star 2
Jet Star 2 was designed by a famous ride creator named Anton Schwarzkopf. It first thrilled riders at the 1974 World's Fair in Spokane, Washington. After the fair ended, Lagoon Amusement Park bought the ride. They moved it to their park in 1976.
Since then, Jet Star 2 has been a main attraction in Lagoon's North Midway area. Over the years, the ride has had some updates. Its system was improved to make it more reliable.
The coaster's look has changed too. Before 2005, the track was red with yellow supports. In 2006, it was repainted to its current bright red and yellow colors. A blinking sign at the top of the lift hill was removed then. In 2012, the loading area was updated. This helped more people get on the ride faster because it's so popular!
A local brewery in Spokane, Washington, even named a drink "Jet Star." This shows how much people remembered the ride from the 1974 World's Fair.
What's the Jet Star 2 Ride Like?
The ride begins with a special spiral lift that takes you to the top. Once you reach the peak, your car quickly drops down a hill. Then, you'll take a left turn, followed by a right turn, and another smaller drop.
The coaster continues with a series of exciting drops and turns. Finally, the ride slows down on the brake run. You'll then stop at the unloading station. After you get off, the cars move back to the loading station for the next riders.
Jet Star 2 has a unique restraint system. Instead of a lap bar, riders use seat belts, much like those in a car. This allows for more freedom of movement during the ride. Each car has three large seats. This means up to six riders can go at once. Lagoon's rules say that you cannot ride Jet Star 2 by yourself.
