History of Jewett
Jewett was first planned out in 1851. Back then, it was called Fairview. Later, its name was changed to Jewett. This new name honored T. M. Jewett, who was an important official for the railroad.
The Jewett Car Company
From 1894 to 1904, Jewett was home to the Jewett Car Company. This company made street cars, which are like small trains that run on city streets. These street cars were sent to cities all over the United States. In 1904, the company moved to Newark, Ohio, and it stopped making cars in 1919.

Conotton Creek Trail
Jewett is the end point of the Conotton Creek Trail. This trail is 11.4 miles (18.3 kilometers) long. It's a "rails-to-trails" path, which means it was once a railroad line that has been turned into a path for people to use.
The trail is paved, making it great for many activities. You can ride your bicycle, use a non-electric scooter, go rollerblading, or use a wheelchair. It's also perfect for walking, running, and jogging.
