Joshua Samuel Fatu (born August 22, 1985), known as Jey Uso, is an American professional wrestler. He works for WWE on the Raw brand. Jey is a member of the famous Anoaʻi family of wrestlers.
Jey was trained by his father, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi. He started wrestling in 2008. In 2010, he joined WWE's training territory, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). There, he wrestled as Jules Uso with his twin brother, Jimmy, forming the tag team The Usos. They became FCW Florida Tag Team Champions. Later that year, they moved to the main WWE shows. From July 2021 to June 2023, Jey was part of a wrestling group called The Bloodline.
As part of The Usos, Jey holds the record for the longest male tag team championship reign in WWE history. This reign lasted 622 days with the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship. Overall, The Usos have won eight tag team championships in WWE. They won the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship three times. They also won the Slammy Award for Tag Team of the Year in 2014 and 2015. In 2017, they won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship three times. They added a fourth reign in 2019 and a fifth in 2021. The Usos were the first team to win both the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships. They were also the first to hold them at the same time as the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. The brothers were even featured in the main event of a major show, WrestleMania 39 - Night 1.
As a singles wrestler, Jey has also achieved great success. He won the 2021 André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. In September 2024, he won the Intercontinental Championship. This was his first singles title. In February 2025, Jey won the Men's Royal Rumble. This earned him a championship match at WrestleMania 41. There, he defeated Gunther to win the World Heavyweight Championship. This was his first world title.

Early Life and Football
Growing Up in California
Joshua Samuel Fatu was born in San Francisco, California on August 22, 1985. He was born nine minutes after his twin brother, Jonathan. Their parents are Talisua Fuavai and professional wrestler Solofa Fatu Jr. Jey is of Samoan descent. He is also a part of the famous Anoaʻi family of wrestlers.
High School and College Football
Jey and his twin brother Jonathan went to Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida. They both played competitive football there. Jey continued his football career at the University of West Alabama. He played as a linebacker from 2003 to 2005.
From Football to Wrestling
Jey's football career did not go as he had hoped. So, he and his brother Jonathan decided to follow their father, Rikishi, and uncle, Umaga, into professional wrestling.
Professional Wrestling Career
Early Career Days (2007–2009)
Joshua Fatu started his professional wrestling journey on June 8, 2007. He debuted for World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW) in Milton, Florida. He teamed with his brother Jonathan as The Fatu Twins. In 2008, Joshua also appeared for the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). He was part of a team called The Samoan Soldiers with his brother.
Starting in WWE (2010)
Jey joined WWE's training territory, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), in 2010. He debuted as "Jules Uso" and teamed with his brother. They were called the Uso Brothers. On March 13, The Usos defeated The Fortunate Sons to win the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship. They successfully defended their titles several times. On June 3, The Usos lost the Florida Tag Team Championship.
The Usos: Early Years (2010–2016)
On May 24, 2010, The Usos (with Jules now called Jey Uso) and Tamina debuted on Raw. They attacked the champions, The Hart Dynasty. The next week, they said they wanted respect for their family. The Usos made their first match on Superstars on June 17. They later challenged for the Tag Team Championship but did not win.
On April 26, 2011, The Usos moved to the SmackDown brand. They started performing the Siva Tau, a traditional Samoan war dance, before their matches. This dance showed their strength and energy. They became fan favorites during this time. The Usos continued to challenge for tag team titles but faced many tough opponents.
In March 2012, The Usos began a rivalry with Darren Young and Titus O'Neil. They also had matches against The Ascension. On April 1, at WrestleMania XXVIII, The Usos tried to win the WWE Tag Team Championship but were unsuccessful. They also appeared with their father, Rikishi, on Raw in July 2012.
On June 3, 2013, The Usos started wearing face paint. This was similar to their uncle, Eddie Fatu, and showed off their Samoan culture. They challenged The Shield for the tag team titles at Money in the Bank but lost.
In early 2014, The Usos went on a winning streak. They finally won the WWE Tag Team Championship on March 3, 2014, by defeating The New Age Outlaws. They successfully defended their titles at WrestleMania XXX. They also kept their titles against The Wyatt Family at Money in the Bank and Battleground. Their reign ended at 202 days when they lost to Goldust and Stardust.

On December 29, 2014, The Usos won the titles back from The Miz and Damien Mizdow. However, they lost them again at Fastlane in February 2015. In March 2015, Jey Uso suffered a shoulder injury. He was out of action for about six months. He returned in November 2015, teaming with his brother and cousin Roman Reigns. The Usos won a Slammy Award for "Tag Team of the Year" in December 2015.
At the Royal Rumble in January 2016, The Usos tried to win the WWE Tag Team Championship again but failed. They then started a rivalry with the Dudley Boyz. At WrestleMania 32, The Usos defeated The Dudley Boyz. However, they lost to them in a tables match the next night.
Tag Team Dominance (2016–2020)
On July 19, 2016, The Usos moved to the SmackDown brand. They entered a tournament for the new WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship. On September 6, The Usos attacked American Alpha after losing to them. This made them "bad guys" again. They started using a new, tougher style.
On March 21, 2017, The Usos defeated American Alpha to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. They became the first team to win both the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships. They successfully defended their titles against Breezango and The New Day. They lost the titles to The New Day in June 2017. However, they won them back at SummerSlam in August. Their reign ended again in September, but they regained the titles at Hell in a Cell in October. After this, they showed respect for The New Day and became "fan favorites" once more.
At Survivor Series in November 2017, they defeated Raw Tag Team Champions Cesaro and Sheamus. They continued to defend their titles against various teams. At WrestleMania 34 on April 8, The Usos wrestled on the main show for the first time. They defended their titles but lost them to The Bludgeon Brothers. This ended their record-setting 182-day reign as SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
The Usos continued to seek championship opportunities. At Survivor Series in November 2018, they were the last team standing for Team SmackDown. On January 29, 2019, they earned another SmackDown Tag Team Championship match. At Elimination Chamber on February 17, they defeated Shane McMahon and The Miz to win the titles for a record fourth time. They successfully defended their titles at WrestleMania 35. Two days later, they lost the titles to the Hardy Boyz.
In 2019, The Usos moved to the Raw brand. They had rivalries with The Revival and Daniel Bryan and Rowan. They challenged for the Raw Tag Team Championship but were unsuccessful. The Usos were off television for the rest of 2019.
On January 3, 2020, The Usos made a surprise return on SmackDown. They helped Roman Reigns against King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler. They challenged for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 36 but did not win. During the WrestleMania match, Jimmy suffered a knee injury, which kept him out of action.
The Bloodline Group (2020–2023)
On September 4, 2020, Jey Uso took Big E's place in a match to decide who would challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. Jey won, earning his first chance at a singles championship. He was defeated by Reigns at Clash of Champions. Jey received a rematch at Hell in a Cell but lost again. After this, he joined Roman Reigns, becoming a "bad guy" in the process. On April 9, 2021, Jey won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. This was his first major singles award in WWE.
After Jimmy returned from injury in May 2021, The Usos and Reigns formed a powerful group called The Bloodline. On July 18, The Usos won their fifth SmackDown Tag Team Championship from The Mysterios. They successfully defended the titles at SummerSlam.
On January 16, 2022, The Usos broke their own record for the longest SmackDown Tag Team Championship reign. At WrestleMania 38, they kept their championships. On May 20, 2022, they defeated RK-Bro to win the Raw Tag Team Championship. This made them the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions. They were the first team to hold both the Raw and SmackDown titles at the same time. The Usos continued to defend their undisputed titles against teams like The Street Profits and The Brawling Brutes.
On November 11, 2022, The Usos retained their championships against The New Day. This made them the longest-reigning male tag team champions on WWE's main roster. On November 14, 2022, they officially broke The New Day's record. By November 28, they became the longest-reigning male tag team champions in WWE history, regardless of the championship. At Survivor Series: WarGames, The Bloodline won a WarGames match.
In early 2023, there were some disagreements within The Bloodline, especially with Sami Zayn. At the Royal Rumble in January 2023, Jey left the ring in disgust after Reigns and Jimmy attacked Sami Zayn. Jey later returned and sided with The Bloodline again. On March 20, 2023, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn challenged The Usos for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 39. At WrestleMania, The Usos main evented the show for the first time. They lost the titles to Owens and Zayn, ending their Raw reign at 316 days and their SmackDown reign at 622 days.
Singles Career and Championships (2023–Present)
At Night of Champions on May 27, 2023, Jimmy turned against Reigns. On June 16, Jey sided with Jimmy and left The Bloodline. The Usos then attacked Reigns and Solo Sikoa. At Money in the Bank on July 1, The Usos defeated Reigns and Sikoa in a "Bloodline Civil War" match. Jey pinned Reigns, which was his first direct pinfall victory over Reigns since 2019.
At SummerSlam on August 5, Jey faced Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. However, Jimmy surprisingly turned on Jey, allowing Reigns to win. Jey returned at Payback on September 2. He announced that he was moving to the Raw brand.
At Fastlane on October 7, Jey and Cody Rhodes won the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. However, they lost it nine days later. At Survivor Series: WarGames, Jey was part of the winning team in a WarGames match.
At WrestleMania XL on April 6, 2024, Jey defeated his brother Jimmy in a singles match. The next night, Jey interfered in the main event, attacking Jimmy. On the following Raw, Jey won a match to become the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. He challenged Damian Priest at Backlash France but did not win. Jey also competed in the King of the Ring tournament, reaching the semifinals.
On September 9, 2024, Jey won a match to become the number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship. On September 23, Jey defeated Bron Breakker to win the title. This was his first singles championship in WWE. He and his father Rikishi became only the second father-son duo to win the Intercontinental Championship. Jey successfully defended his title on October 7.
On October 14, Jey was confronted by Jimmy, who tried to make up. Jey refused. The next week, Jey lost the Intercontinental Championship back to Bron Breakker due to interference from The Bloodline. On October 25, Jey helped Jimmy and Roman Reigns against The Bloodline. At Crown Jewel on November 2, The Usos and Reigns lost to The Bloodline. At Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30, Jey was part of the winning team in another WarGames match.
At the Royal Rumble on February 1, 2025, Jey Uso entered the Royal Rumble match as entrant #20. He won the match by last eliminating John Cena. On February 10, Jey announced he would challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41. On April 19, Jey defeated Gunther to win the World Heavyweight Championship. This was his first world title. He successfully defended the title against Seth Rollins and Logan Paul. On June 9, Jey lost the title back to Gunther. He then competed in the King of the Ring tournament again, losing in the semifinals.
Other Media Appearances
Jey has appeared in the first episode of Outside the Ring, where he and Jimmy cooked a traditional Samoan barbecue. He has also been in many WWE video games, starting with WWE '13. He appeared in the animated film The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-WrestleMania! as Usobots. Jey was also featured on Xavier Woods' YouTube channel UpUpDownDown. He won the Tetris championship on the channel. In September 2020, he was featured in a WWE Network mini-documentary series called WWE Chronicle.
Personal Life
Jey Fatu is of Samoan American descent. He is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Solofa Fatu Jr. and the twin brother of Jon Fatu (Jimmy Uso). He is also the brother of Sefa Fatu (Solo Sikoa). Jey is part of the famous Anoaʻi family of wrestlers. His stage name "uso" means "brother" in the Samoan language.
Jey is married to his high school sweetheart, Takecia Travis. They married on January 8, 2015. They met at Escambia High School. The couple has two sons, Jaciyah and Jeyce.
