Jill Johnson grew up in the small town of Ängelholm in southwestern Sweden. When she was just four years old, she decided she wanted to be a singer. Her local choir leader really encouraged her dream.
At 12, Jill started singing in a Country & Western band called Tomboola Band. They toured in Norway and Denmark. Later, she signed with EMI-Medley in Denmark and recorded an album. The song "Sugar Tree" from that album became a hit in Denmark. In 1996, she had her first hit in Sweden with "Kommer tid, kommer vår", which was a duet with Jan Johansen.
