Jill Thompson (born November 20, 1966) is an American artist and writer. She creates amazing comics and has also worked for stage, film, and TV. She is famous for her work on Neil Gaiman's The Sandman comics. She also created her own popular series called Scary Godmother. Jill has also drawn for other well-known comics like Wonder Woman.

Jill Thompson's Early Life
Jill Thompson went to The American Academy of Art in Chicago. She graduated in 1987. She earned a degree in Illustration and Watercolor.
Jill Thompson's Career in Comics
Jill Thompson started her career in comics in the 1980s. She worked for publishers like First Comics and Now Comics. In 1990, she became an artist for DC Comics' Wonder Woman series. Her art in Wonder Woman #46 was highly praised.
Working on The Sandman Comics
Thompson illustrated parts of The Sandman comic series. She drew the "Brief Lives" story arc. She also drew "The Parliament of Rooks" story. In this story, she created cute, child-like versions of the characters Li'l Death and Li'l Morpheus. These characters were based on classic comic characters Sugar and Spike.
She has written and drawn many stories about the Sandman characters. This includes Death: At Death's Door, a manga-style book. It was one of DC's best-selling books in 2003. She also created The Little Endless Storybook, a children's book. It features the child-like versions of the Endless characters. In 2005, Thompson wrote and drew The Dead Boy Detectives. Creating Scary Godmother
Thompson created her own comic book series called Scary Godmother. It was first published by Sirius Entertainment. Later, it was published by Dark Horse Comics. These books led to two TV specials. The first was Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktacular. It aired in 2003 and then on Cartoon Network in 2004. The second special was Scary Godmother: The Revenge of Jimmy in 2005. Both shows used computer-generated animation (CGI). Thompson helped write the scripts and had a lot of creative control.

Jill Thompson also designed the wrestling outfit for WWE wrestler Daniel Bryan. She was a model for other comic artists. She often uses herself as inspiration for characters in her own work. For example, she was the original model for Scary Godmother.
Her likeness has been used by other famous artists. P. Craig Russell used her in his graphic novel The Magic Flute. Alex Ross used her look for the character Duela Dent in Kingdom Come.
