Film Adaptations
Two animated films have been made based on the Scary Godmother series:
Scary Godmother: Halloween Spooktacular
The first film, Scary Godmother: Halloween Spooktacular, first showed on TV in Europe, Latin America, Australia, and Canada in 2003. It then came to the United States on Cartoon Network in 2004.
Jill Thompson, the creator of the books, helped write the script for the film. She wanted the characters to be made with computer graphics (CGI). This was different from the watercolor art in her books. The film's backgrounds look like traditional drawings. This makes the 3D characters stand out from the backgrounds.
Scary Godmother: The Revenge of Jimmy
The second film, Scary Godmother: The Revenge of Jimmy, came out in 2005. It is based on the second book in the series.
