Jim Rodford's Early Life
Jim Rodford was born on July 7, 1941, in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, he was part of a band called the Bluetones. They were the biggest band in St Albans at that time.
Even though he didn't join them then, Jim helped his younger cousin, Rod Argent, form the famous band The Zombies in 1964. Later, Jim became the bassist for another group called the Mike Cotton Sound.
Jim Rodford's Music Career

Jim Rodford was a founding member of the band Argent, along with his cousin Rod Argent. When Rod Argent left the band, the other three members, including Jim, formed a short-lived band called Phoenix.
After that, Jim joined The Kinks as their bass guitarist in 1978. He played with them until the band finally broke up in 1997.
From 1999 to 2001, Jim played in a band formed by Animals guitarist Hilton Valentine. This band was called Animals II. It also included former Animals drummer John Steel and keyboard player Dave Rowberry. Jim continued with this group, which later changed its name to "The Animals and Friends" after Valentine left. He played with them until he joined Argent and Colin Blunstone in bringing back The Zombies.
Jim Rodford never played with The Zombies when they first started. However, he was very involved with them. He began playing with the band when they reunited in 1968. He joined them again in the early 2000s, with his son Steve playing the drums.
In 2008, Jim joined the Kast Off Kinks. He took over from John Dalton, whom he had also followed into The Kinks after Andy Pyle. In 2009, Jim Rodford often played in a band called "The Rodford Files." His sons, Steve Rodford (who played drums for the Blunstone/Argent band) and Russ Rodford (on guitar), were also in this band. Derik Timms (from mOOn Dogs) played guitar, lap steel, slide, and sang.
In 2010, the original members of Argent got back together and started playing concerts again. They went on a short tour, performing in places like Frome, Southampton, Wolverhampton, Leamington Spa, and London.
On January 20, 2018, Jim Rodford sadly passed away. He fell down the stairs at his home in St Albans.
