Jim Treliving (born May 12, 1941) is a well-known Canadian businessman. He is also a popular TV personality. Jim is famous for being a co-owner of the restaurant chain Boston Pizza. From 2006 to 2021, he was one of the main investors on the TV show Dragons' Den.

Jim Treliving's Journey
Early Career and Police Work
Jim Treliving started his career helping people. From 1959 to 1966, he was a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He worked as a police officer in Alberta and British Columbia. This experience taught him a lot about discipline and hard work.
Building Boston Pizza
After his police career, Jim looked for new opportunities. In 1968, he saw that Boston Pizza restaurants were becoming very popular. He decided to buy the rights to open his own Boston Pizza. This first restaurant was in Penticton, British Columbia.
Jim later teamed up with George Melville. George was an accountant who became Jim's business partner. In 1983, they bought the entire Boston Pizza chain. They bought it from the original owner, Ron Coyle.
Under their leadership, Boston Pizza grew quickly. By 1995, there were 95 restaurants across Western Canada. Today, Boston Pizza and Boston's the Gourmet Pizza (their US and Mexico division) have over 435 restaurants. They are located all over North America.
Becoming a TV Dragon
In 2006, Jim Treliving joined the cast of Dragons' Den. This show is on CBC Television. On the show, Jim was one of the "dragons." These dragons are successful investors.
Aspiring entrepreneurs would present their business ideas to the dragons. The dragons would then decide if they wanted to invest their own money. Jim was a dragon for 15 seasons. He left the show in 2020.
Family Life
Jim Treliving has a son named Brad Treliving. Brad is also very successful in his own field. He is an important executive in the world of ice hockey. Currently, Brad is the general manager for the Toronto Maple Leafs. This team plays in the National Hockey League.
Awards and Recognition
Jim Treliving has received several important awards. These awards recognize his achievements in business and his contributions.
