Jim Treliving, born on May 12, 1941, is a famous Canadian businessman. He is known for co-owning Boston Pizza, a popular restaurant chain. Many people also know him from the TV show Dragons' Den. On the show, he was one of the 'dragons' who invested in new businesses.

Jim Treliving's Journey
From Police to Pizza
Before becoming a business leader, Jim Treliving worked as a police officer. He was part of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) from 1959 to 1966. After his time with the police, he saw how popular Boston Pizza was becoming. In 1968, he bought the right to open his own Boston Pizza restaurant in Penticton, British Columbia.
Building the Boston Pizza Empire
Jim didn't do it alone. He teamed up with George Melville, who was his business consultant. In 1983, they bought the entire Boston Pizza chain. By 1995, the company had grown a lot. It had 95 restaurants in Western Canada. Today, Boston Pizza has over 435 restaurants across North America. This includes Boston's the Gourmet Pizza in the US and Mexico.
Investing on Dragons' Den
In 2006, Jim Treliving joined the TV show Dragons' Den. This show is on CBC Television. On the show, people with new business ideas try to get money from investors. Jim was one of these investors, called a 'dragon'. He helped many aspiring entrepreneurs. He was on the show for 15 seasons, leaving in 2020.
Family Life
Jim Treliving has a son named Brad Treliving. Brad is also well-known in Canada. He works in ice hockey. Currently, Brad is the general manager for the Toronto Maple Leafs. This team plays in the National Hockey League.
