Jimena Valentina Guevara Barón (born May 24, 1987), known as Jimena Barón or J Mena, is a famous actress and singer from Argentina. She started acting when she was a child and later became a successful musician.

Her Career

Acting

Jimena started acting when she was very young. Her first big role was in the 1998 movie El Faro, where she played a little girl named Aneta. This role helped her become known to the public.

After that, she played Loli in the TV series Gasoleros. She was even nominated for a Martín Fierro Awards for Best Child Actress two years in a row, and she won it the first time!

She continued to act in many popular TV shows. These included Calientes, El sodero de mi vida, and Son amores. She also appeared in Los Roldán and Sos mi vida.

In 2008, she acted in Por amor a vos. From 2009 to 2010, she played Esperanza "Hope" Bauer in the teen series Casi Ángeles. She also performed in the stage show for Casi Ángeles.

Later, in 2011, Jimena joined the cast of Los únicos. That same year, she competed in the TV dance show Bailando 2011. She also appeared in a music video for Carlos Baute called Tu cuerpo bailando en mi cuerpo.

In 2012, she played Rosa Montes in the series Sos mi hombre. From 2015 to 2016, she was Gilda Albarracín in Esperanza mía. She also played Belén in Educando a Nina in 2016. In 2017, she acted as Florencia "Floro" Petrocelli in Quiero vivir a tu lado. She returned to Bailando 2018 as a contestant.

Singing

Jimena always loved music. She sang a few songs in the TV shows she acted in. But her official music career started on May 28, 2015, when she became the singer for a band called "Barón Band".

In 2017, Jimena released her first song as a solo artist, "La Tonta". This was also the name of her first album. She then released "Qlo" as the second song from that album.

In May 2019, she started using the stage name J Mena. She released a new song called "La Cobra". This song quickly became very popular in Argentina. It got over 51 million views on YouTube and over 20 million streams on Spotify!

After "La Cobra" became a hit, J Mena released "Quién Empezó". This song featured the famous Argentine trap singer Cazzu. It was also very popular, reaching over 2.1 million views on YouTube and becoming a top music trend in Argentina.

On August 2, Jimena released her second album, also called La Cobra. It had eight songs, including collaborations with the cumbia group Ráfaga and Cazzu. Because of her big success, J Mena signed with Sony Music Entertainment. She then released a new song called "Taxi Voy". In November 2019, J Mena won an MTV EMA award for Best Latin Artist.

In February 2020, she released "Puta", a new song that aimed to change the meaning of a bad word and talk about women's freedom. As a result, she cancelled some planned shows.

In March 2021, after taking a break from music, she returned with a new song called "Flor de Involución". It came with a music video. In March 2023, she performed live after four years at a stage play event.

Jimena Barón dated Argentine footballer Daniel Osvaldo from about 2013 to 2015. They have one son together.

In 2018, Jimena was in a relationship with Argentine tennis player, Juan Martín del Potro. From September 2020 to 2021, she dated television presenter Luis "Tucu" López.
