Jimena Barón's Career

Becoming an Actress

Jimena started her career in entertainment when she was a child. At just ten years old, she became known for her role as Aneta in the 1998 film El Faro. She also played Loli in the TV show Gasoleros. For this role, she was nominated twice for the Martín Fierro Awards for Best Child Actress. She won the award the first time.

After that, she played Malena in Calientes and Anita Campos in El sodero de mi vida. She also appeared in popular shows like Son amores as Lila and Los Roldán as María Roldán González. She also had a part in Sos mi vida.

In 2008, Jimena played María Concepción Molinari in Por amor a vos. From 2009 to 2010, she was Esperanza "Hope" Bauer in the youth series Casi Ángeles. She also performed in the stage version of the show in 2009.

In 2011, she returned to work with Pol-Ka, playing María Paula "Poly" Said in Los únicos. That same year, she joined the TV dance competition Bailando 2011. She also appeared in the music video for Carlos Baute's song Tu cuerpo bailando en mi cuerpo.

In 2012, she played Rosa Montes in Sos mi hombre. This show was on Canal 13. From 2015 to 2016, she played Gilda Albarracín in Esperanza mía.

In 2016, she was Belén in the comedy series Educando a Nina on Telefe. In 2017, she played Florencia "Floro" Petrocelli in Quiero vivir a tu lado. She also competed in Bailando 2018.

Starting a Singing Career

Jimena had always loved music. She sang a few songs in the TV shows she acted in. On May 28, 2015, she officially became the singer for a band called "Barón Band."

In 2017, Jimena released her first song as a solo artist, "La tonta." She also released her first album with the same name. After the album came out, she released "Qlo," which was the second song from the album.

In May 2019, Jimena started using the stage name J Mena. She released a new song called "La cobra." This song quickly became very popular in Argentina. It got over 51 million views on YouTube and more than 20 million streams on Spotify. After the success of "La cobra," J Mena released her second song, "Quién Empezó." This song featured the Argentine trap singer Cazzu. It was also very popular, getting 2.1 million views on YouTube and reaching number one in music trends in Argentina.

On August 2, 2019, Jimena released her second album, also called La Cobra. This album had eight songs, including two collaborations. One was with the cumbia group Ráfaga, and the other was with Cazzu. After her success as a solo singer, J Mena signed with Sony Music Entertainment. She then released a new song called "Taxi Voy" under this record label. In November 2019, J Mena won an MTV EMA award for Best Latin Artist.

In February 2020, she released "Puta," a new song that aimed to change the meaning of an insult and talk about women's freedom. This song caused some discussion and was criticized for its marketing. Because of this, she canceled some planned shows.

In March 2021, after being away from music for over a year, she returned. She released a new song called "Flor de involución" with a music video. In March 2023, she performed after a four-year break. This was at the end of the stage play La Vendimia Para Todos.
