Playing Career Highlights
Jimmy Burke started his baseball career in October 1898. He played for the Cleveland Spiders. The next season, many players, including Burke, moved from Cleveland to St. Louis. The Cleveland team was left with less experienced players. This led to them having a very tough season.

Burke did not get much playing time until he joined the St. Louis Cardinals. This happened after he was traded by the Pirates. In 1903, he played in many games. He had a batting average of .285 and helped score 42 runs. He continued to play in over 100 games for the next two seasons.
After 1905, Burke moved to the minor leagues. He played for the Kansas City Blues. He never played in the major leagues again. His last professional games were in 1913 for the Fort Wayne Champs.
