Jimmy Roberts (born April 6, 1923 – died February 6, 1999) was an American singer known for his tenor voice. He became famous as a regular performer on The Lawrence Welk Show, a popular TV variety program. He was part of the show for its entire run, from 1955 to 1982.

Early Life and Music Start
Jimmy Roberts was born in Madisonville, Kentucky. After World War II, he was serving in the United States Army. It was during this time that he discovered his love for performing. He first sang in public during a military play.
After leaving the Army, Jimmy moved to Hollywood. He wanted to learn more about singing and performing. He studied at the Herbert Wall Music School to improve his skills.
Joining Lawrence Welk
In 1954, Jimmy Roberts was hired by Lawrence Welk. Welk was a famous bandleader. Jimmy became a soloist in Welk's orchestra. At first, they performed on a local TV station called KTLA. They also played at the Aragon Ballroom in Santa Monica, California.
A year later, in 1955, the Lawrence Welk orchestra moved to national television. Their show aired on ABC. This move made Jimmy Roberts famous across the country. People loved his natural singing talent.
Becoming a TV Favorite
During his time on The Lawrence Welk Show, Jimmy Roberts sang many popular songs. Some of his most famous performances included "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" and "My Old Kentucky Home". These songs made him a favorite with the audience. Many fans, especially women, enjoyed his performances.
He also often sang duets with the show's "Champagne Lady," Norma Zimmer. Their voices blended well together.
Later Career and Family
Even after The Lawrence Welk Show ended, Jimmy Roberts kept performing. He continued to tour and sing until the early 1990s. From 1983 to 1987, he worked with a group called "Young American Stars of Tomorrow." This group helped young talent.
Jimmy Roberts had two sons, Gary and Steven, from his first marriage. He married his second wife, Vi, in 1985. They were married until his passing. Jimmy Roberts passed away in Clearwater, Florida in 1999, just before his 76th birthday.
