About Jimmy Schulz
Jimmy Schulz was born in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, on October 22, 1968. He grew up in a town called Ottobrunn in Bavaria. After finishing school, he spent a year studying in the United States as an exchange student. He attended the University of Texas at Austin during that time. Later, he studied at the Bavarian School of Public Policy.
From Tech to Politics
In 1995, Jimmy Schulz started his own company called Cyber Solutions GmbH. This company was one of the first to help set up wireless internet service in public places. For example, they helped bring Wi-Fi to Munich's famous English Garden. In 2000, his company became a public company, which means its shares could be bought and sold by the public.
In 2000, Schulz decided to join the Free Democratic Party. He started running for local elections in a town called Hohenbrunn. In 2008, he tried to get elected to the Bavarian parliament, but he didn't win that time.
His Time in the Bundestag
In the 2009 election, Jimmy Schulz was elected to the German Bundestag. This is like being a member of parliament in other countries. He served one term. However, in the 2013 election, his party, the Free Democrats, did not get enough votes to keep their seats. This meant Schulz lost his position in the Bundestag.
But Jimmy Schulz didn't give up! He ran again in the 2017 election and was re-elected to the Bundestag. He continued to serve until his death in 2019.
A Champion for Digital Rights
Because of his background in technology, Jimmy Schulz was very interested in digital issues. He was known for being the first member of the Bundestag to give a speech using a tablet. He worked hard to protect people's digital rights and privacy online. He believed that everyone should have control over their personal information on the internet.
Later Life
Sadly, shortly after being re-elected in 2017, Jimmy Schulz was diagnosed with a serious illness. He passed away on November 25, 2019, at the age of 51.
