Playing Career Highlights
English began his professional basketball journey with the Tri-City Chinook. This team was part of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). In 1993, he was chosen for the CBA All-Rookie First Team. This honor recognized him as one of the best new players in the league.
Time with the Chicago Bulls
As a 6-foot-4-inch guard, English is often remembered for an event during a 1994 NBA playoff game. This game was between the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks. During the game, English and a Knicks player, Derek Harper, had a heated moment. This led to both players being suspended from future games. English received a one-game suspension, and Harper received a two-game suspension.
Playing in Other Leagues
After his time with the Bulls, English played only eight games in the next NBA season. He then returned to the CBA. In 1995, he played for the Adelaide 36ers in the Australian National Basketball League. He averaged 14.8 points per game in 21 games there.
English also played one game with the Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdogs in the 1996 PBA Governors' Cup in the Philippines. However, an old injury limited his play. He then spent two seasons playing basketball in Turkey. After that, he played one season in Israel. He was the leading scorer in the Israeli Basketball Premier League during the 1999–2000 season.
