Joaquín Soriano started his music journey by training in Valencia, a city in Spain. Later, he moved to Paris, France, to study at the Conservatoire National de Paris. There, he was a student of a very famous pianist named Vlado Perlemuter. Learning from such a master helped him become a brilliant musician.
Winning Competitions
As a young pianist, Joaquín Soriano entered several important music competitions. In 1965, he won the Viotti Competition, which took place in Vercelli, Italy. The very next year, in 1966, he also won the XI Premio de Jaén in Spain. Winning these big competitions helped him start a successful career playing concerts all over the world.
Teaching and Leadership
Joaquín Soriano was not only a performer but also a dedicated teacher. Since 1972, he was a professor at the Madrid Conservatory, a major music school in Madrid, Spain. This meant he taught many young pianists and helped them develop their skills. He also served as the artistic director for the José Iturbi Competition. In this role, he helped organize and guide this important piano contest.
