Job Kenyon (born July 8, 1821 – died August 5, 1889) was an important American doctor and politician. He was known for his work in medicine and for serving in the government of Rhode Island.

Early Life and Education
Job Kenyon was born in Exeter, Rhode Island, on July 8, 1821. His parents were Job and Elizabeth Kenyon. He decided to study medicine and began his training in 1844. He spent a year learning from Dr. Harvey Campbell before attending Yale Medical School. He graduated from Yale in 1846.
Medical Career and Service
After finishing medical school in 1846, Job Kenyon started his career as a doctor. He first practiced in Carolina Mills, a village in Richmond. In 1853, he moved his practice to Anthony, a town in Coventry.
Military Service
In September 1862, during the American Civil War, Dr. Kenyon joined the army. He became an Assistant Surgeon for the 3rd Regiment Rhode Island Heavy Artillery. This group was stationed at Hilton Head, South Carolina. However, he had to leave the service in January 1863 because he became ill.
Later Medical Practice
After his military service, Dr. Kenyon opened a new office in Providence in 1864. He kept this office for the rest of his life, even though he lived elsewhere. From 1865 to 1869, he also worked as a doctor at the U.S. Marine Hospital in Providence. In 1869, he moved his home to River Point, in the town of Warwick, Rhode Island. He lived there until he passed away.
Political and Public Service
Job Kenyon was also active in politics and public service. He served as a member of the Rhode Island State Senate. He was a senator from 1865 to 1869, representing Coventry. He returned to the Senate in 1874, this time representing Warwick.
In 1871, the governor of Rhode Island, Seth Padelford, appointed him to an important role. Job Kenyon became a member of the Board of State Charities and Connections. He did a great job in this position until he resigned in 1884.
Medical Leadership
Dr. Kenyon was highly respected by other doctors. In both 1882 and 1883, he was chosen to be the president of the Rhode Island Medical Society. This shows how much his fellow doctors trusted and admired him.
Personal Life and Passing
Job Kenyon was married twice. His first wife was Phebe M. Hoxie, whom he married in April 1854. She passed away in July 1865. He married again on January 22, 1885, to Sarah A. Sisson.
Dr. Kenyon passed away on August 5, 1889. He was working in his Providence office when he suddenly became unwell. He died later that same day at the age of 68.
