Joseph Madison (born June 16, 1949 – died January 31, 2024) was an American radio talk-show host and activist. He was also known as "The Black Eagle". Madison's voice was heard daily on SiriusXM Urban View, where he discussed important topics.

Early Life and Education
Joseph Madison grew up in Dayton, Ohio. He went to Washington University in St. Louis and earned his bachelor's degree in 1971. The university also gave him an honorary doctorate in 2019.
A Career in Radio
Madison started his radio career in 1980. His first job was at the WXYZ-AM radio station in Detroit.
Growing as a Radio Host
In the early 1990s, Madison joined WWRC-AM. He was one of the few Black hosts on the station. He talked about many issues, including race, to reach a wide audience. He left WWRC in 1998 to start his own online chat show.
Working at WOL and XM Radio
Madison also worked at WOL-AM radio. His show was then shared with other stations through the Radio One Talk Network. It was also available on their XM satellite channel. He left WOL in 2013.
Joe Madison on SiriusXM
Later, Madison hosted his show on the Urban View channel 126 on SiriusXM. You could listen to him from Monday to Friday, 6 am to 10 am.
In 2015, Joe Madison set a world record! He talked for 52 hours straight on his SiriusXM show. This amazing broadcast is officially in the Guinness World Records.
Personal Life and Family
Joe Madison lived in Washington, D.C. with his wife, Sharon (Sherry). He was a father and a grandfather.
Madison took a DNA test that showed his family roots. It revealed he had ancestors from Sierra Leone and Mozambique. Research for the TV show Finding Your Roots also found that one of his great-grandfathers was a white man from South Carolina. This ancestor fought for the Confederates during the American Civil War.
Joe Madison passed away on January 31, 2024, at 74 years old. He had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009.
