Joe Tallari's Hockey Journey
Joe Tallari started his hockey journey in 2001. He played for Niagara University, where he was the team's captain in his final year. After college, Joe joined the Hartford Wolf Pack. This team was a "farm team" for the New York Rangers. Farm teams help players get ready for the big leagues.
Playing for Different Teams
Joe only played one season with the Wolf Pack. Then, he moved to the Johnstown Chiefs in the ECHL. The ECHL is another professional hockey league. With the Chiefs, Joe scored more than 50 points in a season. This means he had a lot of goals and assists!
Over the next three years, Joe played for several teams. He switched between the ECHL and the AHL. The AHL is one step below the top professional league. Joe played for the Cleveland Barons and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He even played for the Sound Tigers twice! He also spent time with the Las Vegas Wranglers.
Playing Hockey in Europe
In 2007, Joe Tallari decided to play hockey in Europe. He signed with the Manchester Phoenix in England. He had an amazing season there! Joe scored 55 goals and made 38 assists in 59 games. This made him the second-highest goal scorer in the league.
Because of his great performance, Joe won the 'Best Newcomer' award. He was also chosen for the 2007-08 EIHL All-Star team. This means he was one of the best players in the league!
Playing in Italy
In 2008, Joe left Manchester and moved to Italy. He signed with Hockey Club Pustertal-Val Pusteria. He hoped to join the Italian national team. In 2009, he signed with HC Eppan Pirats Internorm. Joe led this league with 36 goals during the regular season. He also helped Eppan-Appiano win the Serie B Championship.
Coming Out of Retirement
Joe Tallari stopped playing hockey for a short time. But in the 2010-11 ECHL season, he came back! He played one game with the Wheeling Nailers. He officially retired from playing on February 19, 2011.
