Naming the Field
John Barrett III was the mayor of North Adams at the time. Joe Wolfe was a well-known local sports figure. Both were very important in raising money and building the park.
Joe Wolfe passed away in November 1986. This was shortly after the field was built. Mayor Barrett and others decided to name the field after Joe Wolfe. Joe Wolfe had played semi-professional baseball. He also coached youth teams. He worked with many local sports groups.
Field Improvements
In 2005, the field got more updates. A new electronic scoreboard was added. A place to buy food, called a concession stand, was also built. The backstop, which is behind home plate, was also made better.
