Joely Fisher (born October 29, 1967) is an American actress from a famous family of entertainers. She is the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Connie Stevens. She is also the half-sister of Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in Star Wars.
Fisher became well-known in 1994 for her role as Paige Clark in the popular TV comedy show Ellen. Her performance was so good that she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
Later, she starred in the funny movie Inspector Gadget (1999). She also had leading roles in the TV shows Wild Card (2003–2005) and 'Til Death (2006–2010).
In 2021, Fisher was elected as secretary-treasurer for SAG-AFTRA, a union that helps and protects actors and other people in the entertainment industry.

Early Life and Family
Joely Fisher was born in Burbank, California. Her parents, singer Eddie Fisher and actress Connie Stevens, were both famous performers. She has a younger sister, Tricia Leigh Fisher. Her parents divorced when she was young, and she and her sister were raised by their mother.
From her father's first marriage to actress Debbie Reynolds, Joely has two older half-siblings, Carrie Fisher and Todd Fisher. This makes her the half-aunt of actress Billie Lourd.
Because her mother was a performer, Joely and her sister Tricia traveled the world. They went to different schools and also had tutors. After graduating from Beverly Hills High School, she studied at Emerson College in Boston and spent a semester at the University of Paris. In 1992, she was chosen as Miss Golden Globe for the 49th Golden Globe Awards, an honor often given to the child of a celebrity.
Acting Career
First Roles and Big Break
Joely's first movie was the 1987 comedy Pretty Smart, where she acted alongside her sister, Tricia. She then appeared in several TV shows as a guest star, including Growing Pains, Blossom, and Coach.
Her career took a big step forward in 1994 when she was cast as Paige Clark in the TV show Ellen. She was a main character for four seasons, until the show ended in 1998. For this role, she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. After Ellen, she played Dr. Brenda Bradford in the popular kids' movie Inspector Gadget (1999).
Stage and Music Career
Besides acting on screen, Fisher has also performed on Broadway in New York City. She played Betty Rizzo in the musical Grease and Sally Bowles in Cabaret.
Fisher is also a talented singer. She recorded a Christmas album called Tradition: a Family at Christmas with her mother and sister. She has also been featured on other albums, showing off her powerful singing voice.
Later TV Shows
From 2003 to 2005, Fisher starred as an insurance investigator in the drama series Wild Card. She also had a recurring role on the hit show Desperate Housewives as the boss of one of the main characters.
From 2006 to 2010, she starred with actor Brad Garrett in the comedy series 'Til Death. In the show, they played a married couple named Joy and Eddie Stark.
Personal Life
In 1996, Fisher married cinematographer Christopher Duddy. They have three daughters. She is also a stepmother to Duddy's two sons from a previous relationship. One of her stepsons, Cameron Duddy, is a member of the country music band Midland.
Fisher is also involved in helping others. In 2008, she became an artist ambassador for the charity Save the Children. She traveled to Mozambique in Africa to visit children who are helped by the organization's programs.
