Joely Fisher (born October 29, 1967) is an American actress and singer. She comes from a famous family; her dad was singer Eddie Fisher, and her mom is actress Connie Stevens. She is also the half-sister of actress Carrie Fisher.

Joely became well-known in 1994 when she starred as Paige Clark in the TV show Ellen. This role even earned her a nomination for a Golden Globe Award. Later, she acted in the 1999 movie Inspector Gadget. She also had main roles in the TV series Wild Card (2003–2005) and 'Til Death (2006–2010).

In 2021, Joely Fisher was chosen by the members of the actors' union SAG-AFTRA to be their secretary-treasurer.

Growing Up

Joely Fisher was born in Burbank, California, on October 29, 1967. Her parents, Eddie Fisher and Connie Stevens, were both entertainers. Her father was Jewish, and her mother was Catholic with a mix of Jewish, Irish, and Italian family roots.

Her younger sister, Tricia Leigh Fisher, was born in 1968. Their parents divorced in 1969, and Joely and Tricia were raised by their mother. Joely also has two older half-siblings, Carrie Fisher and Todd Fisher, from her father's earlier marriage to Debbie Reynolds.

Joely and her sister traveled the world with their mom, going to different schools and having private teachers. Joely graduated from Beverly Hills High School. She then studied at Emerson College in Boston and spent a semester at the University of Paris. In 1987, she attended an acting workshop in Italy.

In 1992, she was honored as Miss Golden Globe at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony.

Acting Career

Joely Fisher's first movie role was in the comedy Pretty Smart (1987), which also starred her sister, Tricia. She then appeared in a TV drama called Dedicated to the One I Love (1991). Her career got a boost after she appeared in the movie I'll Do Anything (1994) with Nick Nolte.

She also made guest appearances on many popular TV shows. These included Growing Pains, Blossom, Caroline in the City, and The Outer Limits.

In 1994, Joely got a big role as Paige Clark on the TV comedy Ellen. She was on the show for four seasons until it ended in 1998. For her work on Ellen, she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. After Ellen, she played Dr. Brenda Bradford in the movie Inspector Gadget (1999).

Joely has also performed on Broadway. She was in the musical Grease in 1994 and Cabaret in 1998. She is also a singer and has been featured on music albums. One notable album was Tradition: a Family at Christmas, where she sang Christmas songs with her mother and sister. She also sang a solo song called "Grown Up Christmas List."

From 2003 to 2005, Joely starred in the TV series Wild Card as an insurance investigator named Zoe Busiek. She then had a recurring role on Desperate Housewives. From 2006 to 2010, Joely starred with actor Brad Garrett in the TV comedy 'Til Death, playing Joy Stark.

In 2021, Joely Fisher starred as Irene Cody in the movie Girl in the Basement. She also helps out with Voters of Tomorrow, a group that encourages young people to get involved in politics.

Family Life

Joely Fisher married cinematographer Christopher Duddy in 1996. They have three daughters. Two were born in 2001 and 2006, and they adopted a third daughter in 2008. Joely is also a stepmother to Christopher's two sons, Cameron and Collin. Cameron is a bass guitarist for the country music band Midland.

Since at least 2004, Joely's family has lived in Los Angeles, right next door to her sister Tricia, with whom she is very close.

In 2008, Joely became an ambassador for Save the Children, a group that helps children around the world. She traveled to Xai-Xai, Mozambique, to visit children who are part of their support programs.
