John Elias Bass (born July 22, 1848 – died September 25, 1888) was an American professional baseball player. He played as a shortstop in the major leagues. His career lasted from 1871 to 1877.

John Bass played for three different teams. These were the Cleveland Forest Citys, the Brooklyn Atlantics, and the Hartford Dark Blues.
