John Boye's Club Career
Starting His Football Journey
John Boye was born in Accra, Ghana. He started playing football at a young age in youth academies. He played for Schwepps' youth academy, then Pro Consult Sports Academy, and later Miracle FC. These early experiences helped him develop his skills.
Playing for Heart of Lions and Rennes
In 2008, John Boye moved to Stade Rennais (Rennes), a club in France. He first joined them on a temporary deal called a loan from his Ghanaian club, Heart of Lions. A loan means a player plays for another team for a set time, but their original club still owns their contract.
After his loan ended, Rennes wanted to sign him permanently. There was a small delay because another club had also shown interest. However, everything was sorted out, and John Boye officially joined Rennes in July 2009.
Moving to Other Clubs
After playing for Rennes for several years, John Boye moved to other clubs.
- Sivasspor: In June 2018, he left the Turkish team Sivasspor when his contract ended.
- Metz: On June 21, 2018, he joined FC Metz in France. He signed a four-year contract, planning to stay with the club until June 2022.
- Al-Fayha: On August 31, 2021, John Boye moved to Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia. He signed a one-year contract with them.
John Boye's International Career
Playing for Ghana
John Boye has also played for his country, Ghana. He was first called up to the Ghana national team on June 17, 2008. His first game for Ghana was on June 22, 2008, against Gabon.
He was part of Ghana's team for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in January 2012. He played his first game in that tournament on January 24, 2012, against Botswana.
John Boye was also a key player in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. In this tournament, Ghana won a silver medal, finishing as runner-up after a close game against Ivory Coast that went to a penalty shootout.
