John Boye's Football Journey
Starting Out in Football
John Boye was born in Accra, Ghana. He began his football journey in youth academies like Schwepps', Pro Consult Sports Academy, and Miracle FC. This is where he learned the basics of the game.
Playing for Heart of Lions and Rennes
In 2008, John Boye moved to a French club called Stade Rennais (Rennes) on a loan from his Ghanaian club, Heart of Lions. A loan means he played for Rennes for a while, but his original club still owned his contract. He officially joined Rennes in July 2009.
Time with Sivasspor
After playing for Rennes, John Boye moved to Turkey and joined the club Sivasspor. He played there until his contract ended in June 2018.
Moving to Metz
On June 21, 2018, John Boye signed a four-year contract with FC Metz, another French club. He stayed with Metz until June 2022.
Playing for Al-Fayha
In August 2021, John Boye joined Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia. He signed a one-year contract with them.
Playing for Ghana
John Boye was first called to play for the Ghana national team in June 2008. He made his first appearance for Ghana on June 22, 2008, in a game against Gabon.
He was part of the Ghana team that played in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in January 2012. He also helped Ghana win a silver medal in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. In that final game, Ghana lost to Ivory Coast after a long penalty shootout.
