John Fox (born April 24, 1953 – died May 30, 2012) was an American comedian. He was known for his funny stand-up comedy shows. John made many people laugh with his unique style. He appeared on TV shows and released several comedy albums.
Early Life
John Edward Moore was born on April 24, 1953. This happened while his dad was working at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. John lived in Waukegan, Illinois, until he was 8 years old. Then, his family moved to Zion, Illinois. When John was 13, they moved back to Waukegan. He loved playing baseball. John was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs baseball team his whole life.
His Comedy Career
John Fox's first comedy show was on June 14, 1979. He performed at the famous World Famous Comedy Store. People sometimes called him the "Nick Nolte of comedy." John was on many TV shows. These included Norm Crosby's Comedy Shop and Star Search. He also appeared on Make Me Laugh and Showtime Comedy Club Network.
John was in stand-up comedy videos like Truly Tasteless Jokes. He also appeared in Comedy's Dirtiest Dozen. He even used his voice for a pig character. This was in the animated movie Rover Dangerfield. John was featured on "The Bob & Tom Show". A song called "The Legend of John Fox" was written about him.
He also performed on Rodney Dangerfield's HBO special. This show was called Opening Night at Rodney's Place. John was also part of the first Redneck Comedy Roundup DVD. He performed with other comedians like Jeff Foxworthy and Ron White. A fun part of John's comedy was talking about all his different jobs before he became a comedian.
Later Life and Passing
In October 2011, John Fox was diagnosed with an illness. He passed away in May 2012. He was 59 years old.
