John Reynolds Gardiner (born December 6, 1944 – died March 4, 2006) was an American writer. He is most famous for his book Stone Fox.
About His Life
John Reynolds Gardiner was born in Los Angeles, California. When he was a boy, he was quite rebellious. Some of his teachers even thought he wouldn't achieve much in life. He later studied at the UCLA.
Before becoming a writer, he worked as an engineer. His first and most famous children's book was Stone Fox. By the time he passed away in 2006, this book had sold four million copies!
John was always very creative. When he was younger, he even ran a company called Num Num Novelties. This company made unique items like the "aquarium tie."
He lived in many different places around the world. These included West Germany, El Salvador, Mexico, Italy, and Ireland. He also lived in Idaho, where he heard a local legend. This legend later inspired him to write Stone Fox.
He first wrote Stone Fox as a movie script. However, a movie producer suggested he turn it into a novel instead. John Gardiner also helped edit children's stories for television. He spent his final years with his wife, Gloria, in California. He passed away in Anaheim, California.
