Johns Creek is a small river, or stream, about 8 miles (12.9 km) long. It starts in southern Forsyth County, Georgia. From there, it flows south through the eastern part of northern Fulton County, Georgia.
This creek is a tributary of the Chattahoochee River. A tributary is a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger one. The city of Johns Creek, Georgia, which was formed in late 2006, got its name from this very creek.

The name of Johns Creek probably came from an early settler named John Rogers. He was one of the first white people to live in this area. Interestingly, John Rogers was an ancestor of the famous writer Will Rogers.
