Johnson is a small community in Indiana, United States. It is called an "unincorporated town" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a big town. It's part of Montgomery Township in Gibson County. You can find Johnson about four miles west of Owensville and eight miles north of Poseyville.
Johnson's Past
Johnson has an interesting history. A post office was opened here in 1914. This was a place where people could send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years, but it closed down in 1930.
The community of Johnson was named after a man who worked for the railroad. He was an important official in the railroad company at that time.
Long before the town of Johnson was established, this area was home to Native American people. It was one of many villages where the Piankeshaw tribe lived. The Piankeshaw were a group of Native Americans who lived in parts of what is now Indiana and Illinois.
