Jon "Boog" Sciambi, born on April 11, 1970, is a well-known American sportscaster. He is famous for describing baseball games as they happen, which is called "play-by-play" announcing. You can hear him on ESPN and see him on the Marquee Sports Network, where he has been the main TV announcer for the Chicago Cubs baseball team since 2021. He has also called many baseball games for ESPN television and ESPN Radio. His nickname, "Boog," was given to him because he looked a bit like a former baseball player named Boog Powell.

Early Life and Education
Jon Sciambi was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He grew up in New York City, specifically on Roosevelt Island. For high school, he attended Regis High School in New York City. After high school, he went on to study at Boston College.
A Career in Sports Broadcasting
Starting Out in College
While studying at Boston College, Jon Sciambi began his journey in sports broadcasting. He worked at WZBC, which was the college's own radio station. This early experience helped him learn the ropes of announcing. Some of his classmates at WZBC, like Joe Tessitore and Bob Wischusen, also became successful sports announcers later on.
Announcing for Baseball Teams
Sciambi worked as an announcer for the Florida Marlins baseball team from 1997 to 2004. After that, he became the play-by-play announcer for the Atlanta Braves. He worked with Joe Simpson for the Braves from 2007 to 2009. Towards the end of the 2009 season, it was announced that Sciambi would leave the Braves to work full-time for ESPN. There, he would cover both Major League Baseball and college basketball.
Radio Work and Moving to the Cubs
Before joining ESPN full-time, Jon Sciambi also worked in sports radio in South Florida. He was a host on radio stations like 790 The Ticket and WQAM.
In January 2021, Jon Sciambi became the main play-by-play announcer for the Chicago Cubs TV broadcasts on the Marquee Sports Network. He took over this role after the previous announcer, Len Kasper, left. Sciambi also continues to call regular season and postseason games for ESPN Radio. In October 2022, he became the lead announcer for ESPN Radio's postseason baseball coverage.
Voice in Video Games
Jon Sciambi's voice can also be heard in popular video games! He took over as the main play-by-play announcer for the MLB: The Show video game series starting with MLB The Show 22. He continued to provide his voice for MLB The Show 23 alongside former MLB player Chris Singleton.
Helping Others: Philanthropy
Jon Sciambi is very involved in helping people who have ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. This is a serious illness that affects nerve cells. In 2006, Sciambi started an organization called Project Main St. with his friend Tim Sheehy, who later passed away from ALS. The organization helps fund research and provides care for people living with the disease.
