Jon "Boog" Sciambi is a well-known American sportscaster. He is famous for his work as a play-by-play announcer for baseball games. You can hear him on ESPN and see him on the Marquee Sports Network. Since 2021, he has been the main TV announcer for the Chicago Cubs. His nickname, "Boog," was given to him by a friend. It's because he looked a bit like a former baseball player named Boog Powell.

Early Life and Education
Jon Sciambi was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He grew up in New York City on Roosevelt Island. For high school, he went to Regis High School. After that, he studied at Boston College.
Announcing Career
Sciambi started his journey in sports broadcasting while at Boston College. He worked at the school's radio station, WZBC. Some of his classmates there also became successful sports announcers.
Early Baseball Announcing
Sciambi first became a professional baseball announcer for the Florida Marlins. He called their games from 1997 to 2004. Later, he joined the Atlanta Braves as their play-by-play announcer. He worked for the Braves from 2007 to 2009. During this time, he often worked with another announcer named Joe Simpson.
Moving to ESPN
After his time with the Braves, Sciambi joined ESPN full-time. He started calling Major League League Baseball games. He also announced college basketball games. Before joining ESPN, he also worked on sports radio shows in South Florida.
Chicago Cubs and MLB The Show
In 2021, Jon Sciambi became the main play-by-play announcer for the Chicago Cubs. You can watch him on the Marquee Sports Network. He also continues to call regular season and playoff games for ESPN Radio. Starting in 2023, he became the lead announcer for ESPN Radio's postseason baseball coverage.
Sciambi also lends his voice to the popular MLB: The Show video game series. He became the main play-by-play announcer for the game starting with MLB The Show 22. He continued this role for MLB The Show 23.
Helping Others
Jon Sciambi cares deeply about helping people with ALS. This disease is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. He helps raise money for research and care for those affected. In 2006, he started an organization called Project Main St. He founded it with his friend Tim Sheehy, who later passed away from ALS.
