Jonté Buhl, born on April 4, 1982, is a former professional Canadian football player. He was a cornerback, a defensive position in football. Jonté played for the Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for four seasons. Before playing professionally, he played college football at Texas A&M University. He also briefly signed with the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League (NFL).

Early Life and High School Career
Jonté Buhl grew up in Pflugerville, Texas. He went to John B. Connally High School. There, he was a very talented athlete. He was even named a high school All-American.
Football Achievements
In high school, Jonté played both offense and defense in football. During his senior year, he made 60 tackles and had 5 interceptions. On offense, he ran for 682 yards and scored 10 touchdowns.
Other Sports
Besides football, Jonté was also great at other sports. He played on the basketball team. He was also a top runner on the track team. In 2000, he had one of the fastest indoor 400-meter times in the country.
College Career at Texas A&M
Jonté Buhl played college football at Texas A&M University. He was a key player for the Texas A&M Aggies.
Football Highlights
During his college career, Jonté made 144 tackles. He also had three interceptions and caused two fumbles. One amazing play was a 98-yard fumble return for a touchdown. This happened against the Texas Longhorns during his senior year. It was a school record! After his senior year, he was recognized for his strong performance. Jonté's cousin, Detron Smith, also played for the Aggies. Detron later played for the Denver Broncos in the NFL.
Track and Field Success
Jonté also competed in track and field for the Aggies. As a freshman, he was part of the indoor 4x400-meter relay team. This team placed seventh at national competitions. He also did well in the 400-meter race at conference meets. He was named an All-American after his first year. Jonté focused on football for two years. But he returned to track and field as a senior. He was part of the NCAA champion 1600-meter relay team.
Professional Football Career
After college, Jonté Buhl began his professional football journey.
Atlanta Falcons and Edmonton Eskimos
In 2005, the Atlanta Falcons signed Jonté as an undrafted free agent. The next year, in 2006, he joined the Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL. That year, he played in 15 games. He made 35 defensive tackles and had one interception. He also forced two fumbles. Later in 2006, he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL.
Injuries and Continued Play
In 2007, Jonté started the first three games for the Eskimos. However, he broke his wrist in July. This injury ended his season early. He had recorded nine defensive tackles before his injury.
Strong Return in 2008
Jonté had a great comeback season in 2008. He started all 18 games for the Eskimos. He made 18 tackles and had four interceptions. He also recorded one quarterback sack. He continued to play well in the playoff games that year. In January 2009, Jonté signed a new multi-year contract with the Eskimos.
