Jordan is a lively neighborhood located in the Near North part of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It's a place where many families live and go to school.

The neighborhood has clear borders. To the north, you'll find Lowry Avenue North. Emerson Avenue North is its eastern edge. West Broadway forms both its southern and western boundaries.

Who Represents Jordan?

Most of the Jordan neighborhood is in an area called Ward 5. A "ward" is like a section of a city. Each ward has a person who represents it on the city council. This person is called a "council member."

The current council member for Ward 5 is Jeremiah Ellison. He helps make decisions for the city and for the people living in his ward. A small part of Jordan, west of Queen Avenue North, is in Ward 4. This area is represented by council member LaTrisha Vetaw.

History of Jordan Neighborhood

The Jordan neighborhood got its name from a school that used to be there. This school was called Jordan Junior High. It was named after Charles Jordan, who was once in charge of all the Minneapolis Public Schools.

The junior high school was built in 1922. It served students for many years before it was taken down in 1985. Today, a nice green space called Jordan Park is located exactly where the old school once stood. It's a great place for people in the neighborhood to play and relax.
