Jordy Monroy's Football Journey

Jordy Monroy started playing football at a young age. He has played for several teams in his career.

Starting with Santa Fe

Jordy was born in Bogotá, Colombia. When he was 11 years old, he joined the youth team of his hometown club, Independiente Santa Fe. He made his first professional appearance for Santa Fe on November 1, 2015. This was in a game against Envigado that ended in a 1–1 tie.

He played nine games for Santa Fe in total. He often played when the main players were resting for other important matches. Jordy left the club in January 2016.

Moving to Boyacá Chicó

After leaving Santa Fe, Jordy tried out for a French team and a few other Colombian clubs, but it didn't work out. For a short time, he even worked as an Uber driver. This shows how determined he was to keep playing football.

He then had to choose between signing with Boyacá Chicó or Cúcuta Deportivo. He chose Boyacá Chicó. He helped them win the Categoría Primera B (the second division of Colombian football) in 2017.

Boyacá Chicó moved back to the second division after the 2018 season. On August 27, 2019, Jordy scored his first goal as a professional player. It was in a game where Boyacá Chicó won 3–2 against Cortuluá.

Playing in Armenia

On July 21, 2020, Jordy joined FC Noah, a club in the Armenian Premier League. He played for Noah for two years. On July 5, 2022, his contract with Noah ended, and he left the club.

Back in Colombia

After playing in Armenia, Jordy returned to Colombia. On July 19, 2022, he signed a one-year contract with DIM. In June 2023, he joined Deportivo Pereira. As of 2024, he is back playing for Santa Fe.

Playing for His Country

Jordy Monroy is an Afro-Colombian. He was able to play for Armenia because his mother, Lucelia, is an Armenian national.

He was first asked to join the Armenian national team in May 2018. This was for friendly games against Malta and Moldova. He played his first game for Armenia on May 29, 2018, against Malta. The game ended in a 1–1 tie.
