Jorge Luis Dely Valdés, born on March 12, 1967, is a famous former football player from Panama. He was a forward, which means he played at the front of the team to score goals. Jorge is also the twin brother of Julio Dely Valdés and the younger brother of Armando Dely Valdés, who were also well-known footballers.

Playing for Clubs
Early Career in South America
Jorge Dely Valdés started his professional football journey in 1989 in Argentina. He played for Deportivo Paraguayo and scored 28 goals, showing he was a great scorer. After a short time with El Porvenir, he moved to Nacional in Uruguay. There, he helped his team win the Uruguayan Championship in 1992. The next year, he won the Chilean Cup with Unión Española.
Success in Japan
Dely Valdés then moved to Japan, where he played in the Japan Football League. He joined a team called Toshiba. In his first season, 1993, he was the top scorer in the league with 20 goals. He did even better in 1994, scoring 34 goals and leading the league again.
He then played for Cerezo Osaka in 1995, scoring 19 goals. The next season, he moved to Tosu Futures and scored 24 goals. In 1998, Dely Valdés joined Consadole Sapporo. He scored an amazing 40 goals, helping the team get back into the top division. He stayed with Sapporo in 1999, scoring 20 more goals.
Playing in the USA
After his time in Japan, Dely Valdés came to North America to play in Major League Soccer for the Colorado Rapids. In the 1999 season, he scored 10 goals and made 6 assists in 32 games. He continued to score in 2000, adding 7 more goals for the Rapids.
Return to Japan and Panama
Later, he went back to Japan to play for Omiya Ardija. He also played for Kawasaki Frontale in 2003. Towards the end of his playing career, from 2003 to 2005, he played for Árabe Unido in his home country, Panama.

Representing His Country
Jorge Dely Valdés was a very important forward for the Panama national team for more than ten years. He played in 27 games during the World Cup Qualifying rounds for 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2006. He played his first game for Panama in May 1991 against Honduras. Overall, he played 48 games for his country and scored 19 goals.
Gold Cup Achievements
He also represented Panama in the 1995 and 2001 UNCAF Nations Cup tournaments. In the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup, he scored two goals. He helped lead Panama all the way to the final match against the United States. His last game for the national team was in October 2005, during a World Cup qualification match against the United States.
Coaching Career
Coaching Clubs
After retiring as a player, Jorge Dely Valdés became a coach. On August 8, 2014, he became the manager of Tauro in Panama. He left this role on December 30, 2014, to join his brother Julio as an assistant coach at Águila in El Salvador. He returned to Tauro in May 2015, but later left in October 2015.
Coaching National Youth Teams
He also coached the Panama U-20 team. In 2019, he made history by leading the team to win their first-ever match in the FIFA U-20 World Cup. They won 2–1 against U-20 Saudi Arabia. This victory helped the team reach the round of sixteen for the first time in Panama's U-20 World Cup history. As of 2023, he is coaching the Panama U-21 and Panama U-23 teams, and is also an assistant coach for the senior Panama squad.
