Jorma Vilho Paavali Kinnunen (born December 15, 1941 – died July 25, 2019) was a famous athlete from Finland. He was best known for his amazing skills in the javelin throw. Jorma was born in a place called Pihtipudas.

Olympic Success

Jorma Kinnunen proudly represented Finland at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, Mexico. He competed in the javelin throw event. His hard work paid off, and he won a silver medal for his country. This was a big achievement for him and for Finland.

A World Record Throw

Jorma Kinnunen was not only an Olympic medalist but also a world record holder. On June 18, 1969, he threw the javelin an incredible distance. At the Tampere stadium in Finland, he set a new world record of 92.70 meters. This throw showed how talented and strong he was.

A Family of Athletes

Jorma Kinnunen came from a family of athletes. His son, Kimmo Kinnunen, also became a very successful javelin thrower. Kimmo even became a world champion in the sport. Jorma also had a daughter named Sanna and another son named Jarkko. Jorma Kinnunen passed away on July 25, 2019, at the age of 77, after a long illness.
