José Antonio Sosa Diaz-Saavedra, born on May 8, 1957, in Las Palmas, is a talented Spanish architect and university professor. He is also a researcher and a respected member of the Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts of St. Michael Archángel. This means he is recognized for his important contributions to art and architecture.

Early Life and Education
José Antonio Sosa grew up in a family that loved art and history, especially about the Canary Islands. This encouraged him to study architecture. He finished his architecture degree in 1981 at the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Madrid.
Later, in 1994, he earned a Ph.D. (which is a very high university degree) from the School of Architecture at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Teaching and Research
After getting his Ph.D., José Antonio Sosa became a professor of Architectural Projects. He has been teaching at the School of Architecture of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria since 1983.
In 2000, he was a visiting professor at Harvard University in the United States. He also helped judge projects at other universities, like the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Switzerland.
Since 2015, he has also been part of the University Institute of Intelligent Systems and Numerical Applications in Engineering at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Main Architecture Work
José Antonio Sosa has played a big part in developing modern architecture in the Canary Islands and Spain. He has helped show how important these buildings are to history and culture. Because of his work, he became a member of the Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts.
In 1996, Professor Sosa started a design group called Nred Arquitectos with Magüi González. They worked on big projects together, like the City of Justice (new court buildings) and restoring old Town Halls in Las Palmas.
Since 2011, he has had a new studio for architecture and urban planning with Evelyn Alonso Rohner. In 2015, José Antonio Sosa also became the main editor for Arquiatesis. This is a special publishing line for architecture research and theses.
