José Antonio Sosa Diaz-Saavedra (born May 8, 1957, in Las Palmas, Spain) is a Spanish architect, university professor, and researcher. He is known for his work in architecture and for teaching at universities. He is also a member of the Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts.

Early Life and Learning
José Antonio Sosa grew up in a family that loved art and history, especially about the Canary Islands. This encouraged him to study architecture. He finished his architecture degree in Madrid in 1981. Later, in 1994, he earned a special advanced degree (a Ph.D.) in architecture from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Teaching and Sharing Knowledge
After finishing his advanced studies, José Antonio Sosa became a professor of Architectural Projects. He has been teaching at the School of Architecture in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria since 1983.
In 2000, he was a special guest teacher at Harvard University in the United States. He has also helped judge student projects at other universities, like the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.
Since 2015, he has also been part of the University Institute of Intelligent Systems and Numerical Applications in Engineering at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Amazing Buildings and Designs
José Antonio Sosa has played a big part in shaping modern architecture in the Canary Islands and Spain since the early 2000s. He has helped show how important these buildings are to history and culture. Because of his work, he became a member of the Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts.
In 1996, Professor Sosa joined his design studio with another architect, Magüi González. They formed a group called Nred Arquitectos. Together, they worked on important projects like the City of Justice (a new courthouse building) and fixing up the Town Hall buildings in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Since 2011, he has had a new studio for architecture and urban planning with Evelyn Alonso Rohner.
In 2015, José Antonio Sosa also became the main editor for Arquiatesis. This is a special publishing line for sharing new research and ideas in architecture.
