José Ramón Bauzá Díaz (born 16 November 1970) is a Spanish politician. He served as the president of the Balearic Islands, a group of islands off the coast of Spain, from 2011 to 2015. He was born in Madrid, Spain. His father was from Mallorca, one of the Balearic Islands.
Before becoming a politician, José Ramón Bauzá studied to be a pharmacist at the Complutense University of Madrid. He even owned his own pharmacy in his hometown of Marratxí.

José Ramón Bauzá's Political Journey
José Ramón Bauzá has held many important roles in Spanish politics. He started his career at a local level and then moved on to regional and national positions.
Early Political Roles
Bauzá began his political journey in the town of Marratxí.
- From 1995 to 1999, he was a councillor in the opposition at the Marratxí City Council. This means he was part of the group that didn't hold power but still helped make decisions.
- Later, from 2001 to 2003, he became a deputy mayor in Marratxí. He was in charge of areas like town planning and health.
- His leadership in Marratxí grew, and he served as the Mayor of Marratxí from 2005 to 2011.
Leading the Balearic Islands
José Ramón Bauzá became a very important figure in the People's Party in the Balearic Islands.
- From 2007 to 2009, he was the vice-president of the party in the Balearic Islands.
- He then became the president of the People's Party of the Balearic Islands, holding this position from 2009 to 2015.
- His biggest role in the region was serving as the president of the Balearic Islands from 2011 to 2015. In this role, he was the head of the regional government.
National and European Politics
After his time as president of the Balearic Islands, Bauzá continued his political career at a national level in Spain.
- From 2015 to 2019, he was a senator. He was chosen for this role by the Parliament of the Balearic Islands. The Senate is one of the two houses of the Spanish Parliament.
In 2019, José Ramón Bauzá joined a different political party called Citizens.
- From 2019 to 2024, he served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). This means he represented Spain in the European Parliament, which makes laws for the countries in the European Union.
