Josh Gattis, born on January 15, 1984, is an American college football coach. He used to play as a defensive back in football. Most recently, he was the offensive coordinator for the University of Maryland's football team.

Josh Gattis: His Playing Days
Josh Gattis grew up in Durham, North Carolina. He played college football at Wake Forest University. He was a safety, a player who helps stop the other team from scoring.
College Football Success
In 2005, during his junior year, Josh was really good. He caught five interceptions and made 72 tackles. Because of his great play, he was named second-team All-ACC. The ACC is a big college sports conference.
His senior year in 2006 was one of the best ever for Wake Forest football. The team won the ACC championship. They also played in the 2007 Orange Bowl, which was a very important game for the school. That year, Josh had five interceptions and 82 tackles. He was named first-team All-ACC, showing he was one of the best players in the conference.
Playing in the NFL
After college, Josh was chosen by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2007 NFL draft. He was the 150th player picked overall. Later, he joined the Chicago Bears. In 2007, he played in five games for the Bears and made one tackle.
Coaching Career
After his time as a player, Josh Gattis started his coaching journey. He began as a graduate assistant at the University of North Carolina for one season.
Early Coaching Roles
In 2011, Josh became the wide receivers coach at Western Michigan. While he was there, he coached a talented wide receiver named Jordan White.
In 2012, Josh moved to Vanderbilt. He coached wide receivers and helped with recruiting new players for the offense. A player he coached, Jordan Matthews, was named first-team All-SEC for two years in a row.
Coaching at Penn State and Alabama
In 2014, Josh followed his head coach, James Franklin, to Penn State. He continued to coach wide receivers and help with recruiting. He also became the passing game coordinator.
On January 25, 2018, Josh joined the coaching staff at Alabama. He was the co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach. He helped lead an offense that scored a lot of points. At Alabama, he coached Jerry Jeudy, who won the Biletnikoff Award as the best wide receiver in the country.
Leading Offenses at Michigan and Miami
On January 10, 2019, Josh became the offensive coordinator at the University of Michigan. In 2021, he won the Broyles Award, which is given to the best assistant coach in college football. Under his leadership, Michigan's offense helped the team win the Big Ten Conference Championship. They also made it to the College Football Playoff.
On February 9, 2022, Josh was hired as the offensive coordinator at the University of Miami. However, on January 27, 2023, it was announced that he was no longer coaching at Miami.
Coaching at Maryland
On March 2, 2023, Josh Gattis became the offensive coordinator at the University of Maryland. After two seasons with the team, he left the position in 2024.
