Josh Kaufman is an American singer and songwriter, born on November 9, 1976. He is known for his soulful voice. Josh grew up in Florida and Virginia, but now lives in Indianapolis, Indiana. He became famous after winning season six of the TV show The Voice. He was first on Adam Levine's team, then later joined Usher's team.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Josh Kaufman was born in Sarasota, Florida. His mother, Beth Gilbert, was a music minister. His stepfather, Richard Gilbert, was a pastor. Josh showed musical talent from a young age. When he was sixteen, he appeared on a TV show called Star Search.
He later tried out for another TV show, The X Factor, in 2011. After high school, Josh moved to Indiana for college. He studied at Anderson University and IUPUI.
Josh is also part of a band called The New Etiquette. They used to be known as Josh Kaufman and the Frequency. This rock and soul band started in 2010 in Indianapolis. They released a six-song album in 2012. Before his big TV win, Josh often performed at a sandwich shop in Indianapolis. He also worked as a tutor.

Winning The Voice (2014)
Josh Kaufman became widely known in 2014 when he joined The Voice. During his first audition, he sang "One More Try" by George Michael. All four judges wanted him on their team. Josh chose to join Adam Levine's team.
He won his first battle round. However, he lost his second battle. Luckily, Usher "stole" him for his team. This meant Josh could continue in the competition.
Josh's performance of "Stay with Me" was very popular. It reached the top five on the iTunes music chart. This helped him get more votes. On May 20, 2014, Josh Kaufman was announced as the winner of Season 6 of The Voice.

After The Voice
After winning The Voice, Josh continued his music career. He performed at the Indy Jazz Fest in September 2014. He also appeared at the Indiana State Fair in August 2014.
Josh also performed on Broadway. He played the main character in the musical Pippin until it closed in early 2015. On June 8, 2017, Josh sang the United States national anthem. This was at a FIFA World Cup qualifying soccer match in Colorado.

Josh Kaufman has also performed in other Broadway shows. In late 2017, he was part of "Home For the Holidays, Live on Broadway." This show ran from November 17 to December 30, 2017. He performed at the August Wilson Theatre with other talented singers.
Personal Life
Josh Kaufman is married to Jennifer Myer. They have five children. The family lives in Carmel, Indiana, which is a suburb near Indianapolis. Josh continues to sing with his band, The New Etiquette.
