Joshua Kushner (born June 12, 1985) is an American businessman and investor. He is known for starting and leading Thrive Capital, a company that invests in new businesses. He also helped start Oscar Health, a health insurance company, and is a part-owner of the Memphis Grizzlies basketball team. Joshua is the younger brother of Jared Kushner.

Early Life and Education

Joshua Kushner was born on June 12, 1985, in Livingston, New Jersey. He grew up there in a Jewish family. He went to Harvard College and finished in 2008. Later, he also earned a business degree from Harvard Business School in 2011.

Starting His Career

While in college, Joshua helped create a student magazine called Scene. He also worked with friends to start Vostu, a social network for people in Latin America. Vostu faced some challenges and reduced its operations after a few years.

After college, he co-founded Unithrive. This company aimed to help students pay for college by connecting them with alumni who could offer interest-free loans. Joshua also worked for a year at Goldman Sachs, a big financial company.

Thrive Capital: Investing in New Ideas

In 2010, Joshua Kushner started Thrive Capital. This company invests money in new businesses, especially those focused on media and the internet. Since it began, Thrive Capital has raised billions of dollars from large investors like Princeton University.

Thrive Capital was an early investor in Instagram. When Instagram was sold to Facebook, Thrive Capital's investment grew a lot. Because of his work with Thrive, Joshua Kushner has been recognized by magazines like Forbes and Vanity Fair. By 2024, Forbes estimated his wealth to be $3.8 billion, mostly from his ownership in Thrive Capital.

Oscar Health: A New Way to Get Health Insurance

The couple has bought several homes. In December 2020, they purchased a house in Miami, Florida. They also bought a large apartment in New York City in 2021 and a home in Malibu, California, in August 2024.
