Joshua Kushner's Career

Starting Out in Business

When Joshua was in college, he helped start a student magazine called Scene. He also worked with two other students to create a social network called Vostu. This website was made for people in Latin America, where internet use was growing fast. Vostu later had some problems and became much smaller.

After college, he helped start a company called Unithrive. This company aimed to help students pay for college. It connected students who needed money with alumni (former students) who could lend them up to $2,000 without interest. Joshua also worked for a year at a big investment bank called Goldman Sachs.

Thrive Capital has raised a lot of money from big investors, including Princeton University. For example, they raised $40 million in 2011 and $5 billion in 2024.

Thrive Capital was one of the first big investors in Instagram. When Instagram was sold to Facebook, Thrive Capital made a lot of money from their early investment.
