Jovan Adepo (born in 1988) is a talented actor from both Britain and America. He first appeared in a big movie called Fences in 2016. Since then, he has acted in many other popular films. These include the exciting horror movie Overlord (2018) and the historical comedy-drama Babylon (2022).
Jovan Adepo has also starred in many TV shows. He was in the supernatural series The Leftovers (2015–2017) on HBO. He also played important roles in Jack Ryan (2019) and the true crime series When They See Us (2019). One of his most famous roles was as Hooded Justice in the superhero series Watchmen (2019). For this role, he was even nominated for a big award called the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie. More recently, he starred in the science fiction series 3 Body Problem (2024) on Netflix.

Jovan Adepo's Early Life and Education
Jovan Adepo was born in 1988 in a place called Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, in England. His mother is a British Nigerian from London, and his father is an African American from Chattanooga, Tennessee, in the United States. His grandfather, Fatai Adepo, was an important adviser to a former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.
When Jovan was only two years old, his family moved to the United States. He grew up in Waldorf, Maryland. As a child, he enjoyed acting in plays at his school and church.
After high school, he went to Bowie State University in Maryland. He studied political science and philosophy and earned a B.A. degree. While he was learning about political science, he also started taking classes in creative writing.
Jovan Adepo's Acting Career
Starting Out in Los Angeles
After finishing college in 2011, Jovan Adepo moved to Los Angeles. At first, he wanted to be a writer. To earn money, he started taking acting classes. He hoped these classes would help him get roles in commercials. But as he learned more, he became very interested in acting.
Jovan studied acting with several well-known teachers. One of them was Dianne Hull from the Actors Studio. He also met Viola Davis's older sister through his church in Maryland. She helped him get in touch with Viola Davis, a famous actress. Viola Davis gave him advice, telling him to practice acting skills, watch plays, and read many different play scripts.
Famous Roles in Movies and TV Shows
Jovan Adepo has played many memorable characters. In 2016, he starred in the movie Fences alongside famous actors Viola Davis and Denzel Washington. He played Cory Maxson, the son of the main characters. Jovan was the only actor in the movie version of Fences who had not been in the Broadway play before.
In 2017, he appeared in the movie Overlord with Wyatt Russell. They played American soldiers who faced scary Nazi super soldiers. Around the same time, he became a regular actor on the HBO TV series The Leftovers for its second and third seasons. He also had a role in the horror film Mother! by director Darren Aronofsky.
In 2019, Jovan played the adult Antron McCray in When They See Us. This series was about the true story of the Central Park Five. He also played Larry Underwood in The Stand, a TV show based on a book by Stephen King. In November 2019, he took on a very important role in the TV series Watchmen. He played Hooded Justice, who was known as the world's first superhero.
In March 2021, he was chosen to star in the movie Babylon. In 2024, Jovan Adepo was one of the main actors in the Netflix science fiction series 3 Body Problem. He is expected to be in future seasons of this popular show.
