Juana Díaz barrio-pueblo is a special part of Juana Díaz, a town in Puerto Rico. It is like the main downtown area. This barrio is the administrative center, which means it's where the local government offices are located. In 2010, about 3,977 people lived here.
In Puerto Rico, just like in Spain long ago, every main town has a special area called a pueblo. This pueblo usually has a central plaza (a big open square), buildings for the town government, and a Catholic church. Every year, special festivals called Fiestas patronales (patron saint festivals) are held in this central plaza.

The Heart of the Town: The Central Plaza
The central plaza, or town square, is a very important place in Juana Díaz barrio-pueblo. It's used for both official events and fun activities. People gather here from morning until night to socialize and relax.
Long ago, in the early 1800s, Spanish laws called the Laws of the Indies guided how towns in Puerto Rico were built. These laws said that the plaza should be "a good place for parties" (celebrations). They also said the plaza should be big enough for all the people living nearby. The laws also made sure that streets around the plaza had comfortable walkways. These walkways protected people from the sun and rain.
The Historic Church
Right across from the central plaza in Juana Díaz barrio-pueblo is the Parroquia San Ramón Nonato. This is a Roman Catholic church. This beautiful and historic church was built a long time ago, in 1807.
How the Town is Divided
The pueblo, which is what the barrio-pueblo is still called, is divided into four main parts. These parts are the north, east, west, and south sections.
